My first self-haircut
« on: September 30, 2008, 04:30:16 PM »

I just gave myself my first self-haircut. Why does that sound naughty... Anyway, I always get a military buzz cut, and out here, it's $40 for the cut plus I always tip the little piece of ass--I mean hairdresser!--$10. Today, it finally occurred to me that I own clippers and an electric shaver and a handheld mirror. Taking my life (or something) in hand, I sallied forth into the bathroom and...My head is boot camp approved! That's $100 a month I just saved myne self.

You're probably axing yourself why I not think of this beefer. Well, I have suffered several head injuries in my life--that could be it. Also, who'd want to give up the chance to hit on that young hairdresser if there's even a *chance* she'd make me her personal shower slave. Not that kind of shower, you sickos.

I can't tell you how much I regret teaching my son to do his own buzz cut one hellishly hot summer.  He has BEAUTIFUL hair - thick and straight, and that rich shade of dark brown the glows burgundy in the light.  He used to wear it hanging straight to his shoulders. No more thought.

Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh . . .

You did a wonderful thing.  Personally, I haven't wasted money on or visited a barber or stylist since I was 12. Except once when I had to cut my hair for a wedding or something when I was in my 20's.  It was brutal and I swore I'd never let anyone else (other then my brother) do my hair ever again.

My big old hillbilly husband has done my hair for the past 15 years.   Recently I was bored and decided I wanted a change, so this is what that old redneck did to me.   Sorta fun for a woman rapidly approaching 50.  I think all old ladies should dye their hair funky colors,  lighten up a little bit.  :-)

You get $$$ for pink hair and for COMING BACK!  I've missed you.

ME TOO. Missed you a lot. How ya been? I dig the color. It makes me wanna do the same.... but you have awesome straight hair and my hair is too curly for color. It makes it frizz. I've been fighting frizz since I was 12. It stinks.

Hi Dixie!I like your hair. I used to have blue hair and later purple hair when I was in my early 20's. Then I got a crew cut, dyed it red and went all Annie Lennox. These days I look much more "normal".  :(

Your hair is so cool - it looks like fun-fur, and you remind me of Sigourney  Weaver in that pic.

Nice do, Dix. I'm a fan of unnatural colors myself. Mostly green and blue. And the great thing about being a high yellow-blonde is, you never have to bleach first. :)

This is great. Ne'er did oi expect so much activity when first oi started this 'ere thread. Update: My first self-haircut, done with an electric shaver, has now been superceded by a full-blown (if you'll pardon the term) safety razor head shave. I may be the world's first Jewish skinhead. I wonder if the Aryan Brotherhood would accept me as a member?

Well, if you ever get thrown in a high-security prison - you've probably got a better bet of getting into the Brotherhood than MS-13 or the Crips. lol.
