Other shows like C2C?
« on: August 11, 2008, 03:18:47 PM »
So...out of curiosity and since George really makes it difficult to filter him out and take in whatever goodness comes out of C2C...are there any other shows out there that are comparable? Better? Ones to stay away from? I tried Dreamland and while i liek Whitley when he's a guest on C2C I found this show a little snore enducing.

Help?

Whitley is much better guest than host. Still - his show is even more of a tight clique of "certain someones" than C2C has become - with less care taken (hard to believe I know) with how verifiable these people's stories are.

There are lots of little shows out there - none with the range C2C once had, that I know of.  But look around this board - people have posted a few here and there.

Well there's always ****ADMIN EDIT**** he does like three shows a week now I think. It's pretty much everything C2CAM covers, and they sometimes have interesting guests.

There's also quite a few ghost-only based radio shows out there on the internet. One's run by an EVP-catching team...I forget the name of it, but the guy's been doing that shit for decades and he's not a bad interviewer, either. I'll try and find it again so you guys can hear. He archives his shows for free so you can listen to any of them at any time.

****ADMIN NOTE**** sorry but i can't allow that show to be promoted on this site in any way.  someone affiliated with that show pissed me off royally a few months back.  furthermore, i find the show to be unlistenable in addition to the afore mentioned grievance.  thx. mv

Yeah, that's a great one. I'd rather listen to them than Snoory any day.

OMG, just a few minutes ago, I discovered a talk radio show carried on the net at:

http://www.live365.com/stations/anomaly1

I listen to a lot of music online, and there is a site www.live365.com

that plays music of all genres. Today, I was tooling around at that site and noticed that they had a talk radio channel. Two men, Craig York and Smiles Lewis had a show named PreCogDis (Precognitive Dissonance). They are talking about hauntings and crypotozoology. They brought up a book that combines these 2 :

Ghost Stories of Texas The book is supposed to have a couple of stories w/cryptozoological significance.

This channel seems to have a lot of different shows, and they seem interesting.

So, I assume they're not fans? Are you implying intelligent people don't like George Noory? Get outta town!  :D

Actually I'm listening to some of their shows from 2002 right now as I'm typing. These guys are definitely good stuff. Haven't listened in quite awhile.

I think about 70% of Texas' paranormal activity is just from being too close to Louisiana. lol.

I don't think it's anything special either really. Just the first thing that came to mind. My largest issue with the show is actually his theme music. As a musician myself, I know where he takes his samples from and how the whole thing was comprised, and it's just godawful.

Anyways, I understand man, no problem.

heh... the first thing that struck me about the show when i heard it the first time was the intro.  it goes ON AND ON AND ON for literally about 4 or 5 minutes as if you're about to enter a realm previously untrod by mere mortals.  after minutes of this grandiose posturing and self indulgence, some guy comes in and says, "hey, how ya doin'?"

BLEH.

a few months ago, i was contacted by some arse who said he was the producer of that show.  why did he contact me?

i noticed someone was running a stream on shoutcast which was actually just a relay of my stream.  they were running it directly off of my stream and simply renaming the title of the stream to suggest they were responsible for providing the content.  that pissed me off.  soooo.... i logged into my shoutcast server and set it to disallow relayed streams.

a couple days later, afore mentioned arse sent me an email coincidentally asking if it would be ok to relay my stream.  i said, "yeah, sure, no problem."  i readjusted the setting on my server, and that was that.  see what asking can get you?

he asked me if i would put a link to their shitty, disorganized, amateurish site on ufoship, and i said i would if they would reciprocate.  i gave them the standard prominent link on ufoship (which, btw, was getting FAR MORE traffic than their shit-hole website).  they gave me a postage stamp hidden within a MOSAIC of seemingly irrelevant links.  thanks.

this guy also fed me the typical horse shit line, "we're going to be picked up by XM satellite radio in about 3 or 4 months."  "yeah, sure." i thought.  haha i listen to xm daily and i have yet to hear a peep about it.  no surprise.  knew i never would.

then i finally got around to listening to this show.  the complaint i lodged above can suffice in describing my reaction.  it's just NOT a good show.  it's the typical boring paranormal radio show with a host who takes himself too seriously as evidenced by his tard-ish intro.

sooo... based on the horrid nature of this show and the obvious idiocy of this so-called producer, i decided to remove the link from my site altogether and reinstate the ban on stream relays.  a few weeks later, i noticed they were streaming art bell shows ripped from my stream.  they couldn't relay anymore, so they did the next best thing.  real lamers.  go get your own art bell show collection.

that's essentially it.  it's a bad show surrounded by lightweights.  i'm totally unimpressed by it which is why i chose to disassociate myself from it.

Fair enough - I half-listened to their show today (as usually I was REALLY paying attention to work) i was underwhelmed.

Thanks for explaining.  You sure didn't ow me or anyone else that.

He uses a sample from a Filter/Crystal Method song with apparently some trio of crappy chick singers to sing his radio name over it, and that's it..it just loops, and loops, and loops.  It annoys the bejesus out of me. I could have done a better job in 15 minutes on a basic drum machine prog like Fruity Loops.

As for the show itself, I don't have any major quams with it, but it's nothing special.

Anyways, from your other post, sounds like the guy's a douche...but I can't really say much, never spoke with him myself.

actually, i don't have a beef with the host.  the only thing i have to say about him is to point out that i didn't enjoy his show.  for all i know, he might have been totally unaware of what was happening behind the scenes.
