Real-Time Coast To Coast "Chat"
« on: July 24, 2008, 08:08:16 PM »
I don't know if this thread will take off or not, but we shall soon see.

I have been informed by Max that the Fantastic Dump-hole used to employ something similar to what I'm proposing here.  In essence, I guess it could be said I am "lifting" this idea from the dump-hole.  heh heh.

I want to invite all our members to use this thread each night while they're listening to C2C as a real-time "chat room" of sorts.  I think it would really be killer to see everybody commenting on what they're listening to AS IT'S HAPPENING... right here, in precisely the same fashion they would if it were a conventional chat room.

I envision this thread eventually being comprised of more pages than I'd care to count, since many of the posts will be very short in nature.

The only thing you'll need to remember when using this thread is the location of your browser's Refresh button.  Let the mockery begin!

sound like fun - but then it does require that I actually LISTEN as it's BROADCAST and not off of "borrowed" MP3s . . When I pull a late-nighter, I'm usually obessed with soe code of some kind.

I likey! I only hope I can stay up past 1 am, when C2C starts here. Some nights I am up that late and even later. It'll be fun!

Richard C is on bashing other people so he can feel better about himself. He's always claiming he can prove something in a few weeks. He actually calls himself a scientist, he probably thinks he is batman.

Glad I tuned in late, 20 minutes of the whining bolo bandito was too much as it was. Hopefully the full guest will be better. At least it wasn't the triple threat with moldy cow on the show too.

I think she has the most annoying voice on the radio, that I've ever heard. Plus her "radio style" is just plain awful. It's painful to listen to her, so much so, that it completely distracts from whatever she is talking about.

Been listening only for only an hour tonight, and they've already had 2 callers plug websites, crummy ones too. I'll do everyone the favor of not posting them. I wonder if the people listening on the radio heard them.

I should check this thread more often when I'm up late. At one point in time I was a member of Badboy's forums and I occasionally joined Ufo Phil and the like to discuss the show as it aired, but most of the posters there were generally intolerant of my occasional criticisms and jokes about George. Here, I feel quite comfortable pointing out those hilarious mistakes and goofs by our mediocre mustached host.

I'll join in next time I can.  ;)

Okay - I know that tonight is Ian, and it is - after all - Saturday, BUT - I have a poop load of work to do here so it's likely I'll be up and can multi task.  Anyone who is up for an Ian Chat, I'll do my best to be here!  Here's the line up (PACIFIC TIMES):

Sorry all - worn to sigh.  If anyone else does show - enjoy!

Hosted by
Ian Punnett
Guest(s)
Harry Shearer, Carole Travis-Henikoff

Saturday, July 26
10p-12a PT : Comedian, Actor and Musician Harry Shearer will join Ian Punnett for a lighthearted discussion about his life, career, and the news of the day.

12-2am: Author and independent scholar Carole Travis-Henikoff will discuss her 7 year research into the taboo subject of cannibalism.

C'mon guys - who doesn't like a good CANNIBAL Story!?

Be here - or be queer.  ;:)

BTW - this may be too much work for too little return - but have you considered installing a real-time chat? I know it's fun to have the posts - but chats can be logged and posted.

Some guy, almost right away mentions his website, where he claims to have made a movie dedicated to c2c, George stops him from mentioning it a second time http://alienmatrix.com/

The next web guy claims how he is an endtime warrior and some other things that were too boring to pay much attention to http://endtimewarrior.com/

I think the second guy was the last call of the night, as George went ahead puts prerecorded content on for the last half hour.

What the hell, man!

"Sun 07.27 >>
Rebroadcast: Timothy Good from 10/21/07
Host: George Knapp"

Knapp canceled again, at least there was a little warning this time.

I know one future show, I won't be listening to, as it just drones on, and on.

"Thu 07.31 >>
Linda Moulton Howe
-Nazi Remnants & the "Roswell Rock"- earthfiles"

This bodes ill.  Unless the guy is seriously ill or something (and I think someone would have said something if that were the case) he can't keep canceling and still expect to just go on at some point.  Either he wants out - or he's playing contract games.  Time will tell I suppose.

Any "technical difficulties" would - I'd think - have been handled by now.

Real-Time Coast To Spinal Tap

According to Ian's guest Harry Shearer, 2009 will see the release of a new Spinal Tap album and a concurrent 25th anniversary reunion tour.

That's the best news I've heard on CTC in months.

I only wish Shearer could have stayed on, in the character of Derek Smalls, as a roundtable guest during the second guest's appearance as they discussed cannibalism:

"Yes. There was an unfortunate event with Spinal Tap, I believe we were outside of Lodi, and we.... I can't believe I'm revealing this ON AIR ... we ... we ate the drummer. We don't talk about it.  We were stranded in the middle of nowhere with no food with our agent.  In fact, it was the agent's idea we dispose of the drummer stating that drummers are so easily replaced without compromising the frontmen. The band became sick and was barely able to go back for seconds.  Nigel had a little breakdown.  You know Nigel.  He has the innocence of a child. Well, he kept proclaiming 'I want the drumstick!  I want the drumstick!' It was a difficult time for all of us."

i considered installing a chat interface, and the idea has been suggested to me several times.  however, i felt it would detract from the whole premise behind having a message board since my objective is to preserve everybody's wit and wisdom for all eternity.

Good, I'm a lot less witty and wise in real-time.  I have a dedicated think-tank focused on replies.

Man I can barely listen to this drivel anymore. The second Art left, Norry got worse than he was to begin with, and Ian.....I don't want to say what I think of him. I have to use vulgar language when I speak of that wretched punk. Can't listen to it or I want to destroy the world just to be rid of it. I usually listen to a few minutes and whip out my mp3 player for old Art Bell.

That WOULD have been funny -- I listened to the MP3 the next day.  I gotta tell yah - Ian's inability to contain his combination of fascination and disgust at some of the guests "details" was almost as funny.  I couldn't resist telling him so on his blog.

ev... i heard part of the show with shearer up until the top of the hour where the signal was cut and ian played a song from the new album.  to what are you referring, specifically, when you mention ian's disgust/fascination with a guest?  was there something i missed on that broadcast?

It was guest #2 - the woman who wrote a book on cannibalism.  I can't blame Ian for going all goose-pimples.  In fact, I can't bring myself to even REPEAT the stuff that grossed him out here. It was way beyond the pale - but unfortunately true.

I keep falling asleep before the cannibal lady gets on - both Sat., and last night on streamlink. I'll try again tonight.  But I couldn't help giggling myself to sleep during the Harry Shearer segment.  He was funny, and it's hard not laugh at Ian laughing every 5 seconds.

I think this refers to when the guest spoke about people eating aborted fetuses. Ian just kept groaning. Also happened when she described Japanese soldiers hacking off parts of captured flyboys a bit at a time because there was no refrigeration to keep larger amounts fresh :-X.
