Hey MV - been tinkering with settings, or have a software upgrade changed things (screwed 'em up )

Here's what's happening... when posting now, it appears either javascript or Java have been enabled, thereby eliminating the "code tags." Instead, if I highlight text to be manipulated (bolded, color change etc.), the modifications are made in the posting box instantaneously, rather than allowing me to see the code tags.

This REALLY sucks, to wit: ever try reading yellow text on a white background - almost impossible, plus I'm then unable to modify my text, as the software will not allow me to place my cursor amongst the text to edit. There are other examples, but I think you get the idea. These new settings make it infinitely more difficult to edit/modify my posts as I type them... I was going to post twice this evening, but gave up, as I could not achieve what I used to be able to accomplish with ease. HELP!

My computer settings have not changed, nor has my browser - currently FF 10.0.2

I'll try and give a better example... it used to be, if I had text that I wanted to bold, and color yellow, I would highlight the text, bold with the bold button, and add yellow, so that the text in the posting box would look like this:

vs now, when I highlight text and add bold and yellow, the text in the post box LITERALLY are bolded and are colored yellow (on the default white background) instantaneously... there are no code tags shown. Changing colors in the posting box "on-the-fly," or really any "instant" formatting is undesirable. I've encountered a very few forums with this on-the-fly formatting, and it really sucks (IMHO).

I must always allow for "gremlins" which may only be affecting me... I'll investigate further...

Also - just FYI for the masses - using code tags allows you to use colors not offered  by the pull-down menu, even though the software supports them - additionally, while in code-tag mode, your context menu (right-click) functions again; for example, in non-code-tag (now default?) mode, context menu ceases functionality, such as spell-check, etc. using Firefox.

Also love the new feature which seems to show more "recent posts." Maybe my imagination, but seems like about twice as many. Me like.

when you view "recent posts" (the original way), you'll see a link in there to "view all unread posts."  i simply placed an item in the menu linking directly to that. 


i have TWENTY SEVEN pages containing threads with unread posts.  i have never read a vast majority of this forum, and it will be impossible for me ever to do so.
