For everyone dissing George Noory all I have is two words for you:

It's just proof that instead of Noory we could have a far, far worse host we could all really get behind in despising. In many ways, we're blessed to have George even when he makes some asinine comments or statements on the program (and God I hate when he makes some dumb-ass comment to a caller pouring out an emotional story with: "Oh, well I hope you're doing okay now!" or some such tripe).

Out of all the hosts, I personally prefer Ian. I like George though even if he irks me sometimes - I liked Art too, but I personally got a little tired of listening to some of Art's stories about life that went on for twenty minutes talking about Ramona (before her passing, R.I.P.) or his damned cats and how intelligent they were before realizing: "Oh, we have a great show tonight now that it's halfway over...". C2C with Art basically got to a point where it was an open forum for Art Bell to express his thoughts on life instead of actually discussing different things with callers and/or guests. And while Art had some interesting things to say, I don't think you should let all your personal stuff out all the time. So, I'm going to be a naysayer here and say I prefer George to Art in the last decade or so just so I can start off my stay here at Coastgab warmly by other members.

Anyway, it's my first post, I am glad I found this place as I'm a huge fan of C2CAM.

I have to say that is an interesting first post.  You are not alone in not loving Art (there are a few others like you kicking around here.)  Having said that, I think you are the only one who would prefer a night of Noory to a night with Art. 


Out of curiosity, what brings you to CG if not an overriding hatred for all things Noory?  As stated earlier, loving Art is not a requirement for membership, but I am pretty certain that a minimum of a strong dislike for Noory is stated somewhere in the TOS...


All joking aside, welcome.  It will be nice to have somebody to defend the indefensible around here.

Oh, come now.  If you try hard enough you will realize that Noory is a master at mangling the English language, making up stories that don't quite ring true and there is nobody with more experience at destroying a late night radio show than George.  Heck, he could write a book on how to maintain gainful employment while being a lazy, useless ass and speak with some authority (though those very qualities mean that he would need to use another ghost writer.)  I think you sell him short with your attack on the man.  It is time to give credit where it is due and start to build up George while recognizing his qualities...

the only book i know of by noory is worker in the light, which from the reviews (and common sense) looks like a pile of shit.  noory is an expert on NOTHING and why someone would invest time in his written words is beyond me.

In a survival situation the pages from his discount-bin book could be valuable wiping paper. But watch out for paper cuts.

That's George.   He will start in asking the same old questions he always does 'for thuh new lissners'.  A little later, anxious to stop anything interesting from developing, he'll confuse the guest with one of his all-purpose useless comments - something else for 'thuh new lissners'.
 
But when he gets bored and maybe off the cue cards, he'll interrupt with some reference to something completely unreleated to the discussion, he'll never follow it up, never develope it, never explain the reference, he just moves on.

I would like to make one point here about "strange" things: Most people have had something like that happen to them i.e. Noory's green light story. That doesn't mean you have some kind of special ability or super power. I guess he was also almost kidnapped or something in mexico??? Yeah I bet he fought off like 50 dudes with guns just using his mustache.
