I caught this gem last night during the news section. George was trying to tell the story of the dog who accidentally shot it's owner.

"...He stepped on the shotgun, it went off and shot the guy in the butt. He's okaaay but it left his 12 gauge shotgun ehh in ahh very tenable situation (trailing off)"

WTF was George trying to say there? That sentence makes absolutely no sense to me. How can a shotgun be in a "tenable situation"

To all forum viewers,

I have two different issues to address.

1st:  After joining, I have spent time looking over this website.  You all seem to have one thing in common. . .You do not like the present state of C2C.  Mostly, you all seem to hate the hosts and how they conduct the shows bu.....blah blah blah, pffthhbbbbbbttttt, snore

You sound like the kind of guy who defends Justin Bieber, because well, millions of people buy his albums, therefore his music must really be good!

I feel similarly about C2C nowadays, and my favorite band, Morbid Angel. Both were once a top-quality product, and then came along some assclown (David Vincent) and turned them into a complete joke and parody of themselves (see Morbid's new album "Illud Divinum Insanus").

Now of course any Morbid Angel fan knows Vincent is their original singer and bassist, but he left and came back ten years later and has acted like an ignorant douche ever since, wresting creative control from Trey and putting out a shockingly bad album that's got his stink all over it. Do I love Morbid Angel? Absolutely. Is that going to stop me from ripping on David Vincent every chance I get? Of course not. He's taken something dear to me and made it..well...gay.

Similarly, just as I love the idea of C2C, a late-night radio show dedicated to the paranormal and occult, and admire its creator for his vision and ability, I will never stop wailing on George Noory and his enablers for shitting all over that vision. I'm not going to give in and say, 'well, business is business, good work Noory and folk, you're probably making a shitload of money! Though I don't agree with your product, I admire your strategy, good day!' Hell no. C2C has been taken hostage, and the time is ripe for someone to try and bring it back.

     Good analogy. It's hard to believe that the band that gave us "Altars of Madness","Blessed Are The Sick","Covenant" and "Domination" would unleash the gutless faggery of the most recent album. Well I have to say I gained some respect for George after hearing the opening of tonight's show. The guy went through with his broadcast duties even in spite of personal loss. I sympathize with him tonight and think he does have guts to go on the air after such a terrible day. Kudos to George on this one and sincere condolences.

Noory just told about the upcoming c2c show schedule and said it will be changing since he will not return to the air until Tuesday night.
Frequent guest host Rob Simone will fill in on Sunday night (Noory's usual first Sunday of the month show) and Whitley Strieber will fill in on Monday night.
He also mentioned Ian will be hosting the New Year's Eve show again this year...

     Agreed.  My condolences.  I don't think it has hit him yet.  I'll give him a pass for a few days.  I wouldn't be surprised if he takes next week off.  Robert Stanley, though, is a complete nut job.  A demon in the Capitol?  Duh...her name is Nancy Pelosi.

As for the passing of the father, yes, that is sad regardless of George Noory's hosting. I'm sorry for his loss, and I guess it is nice that he came on the air. It's better not the withdraw during major losses.

Maybe people won't agree, but I feel slightly guilty for mocking George this week. I can't help but wonder if his exceptionally bad hosting this week may have been due to his father having issues. He sounded very heartfelt during the Friday show opening.

Simone Sunday and Monday Whitley stops by for alien butt sex talk. I think Sunday will be good.. Maybe Art will call in.

In another thread we talked about hating/vigorously disliking Noory, WOTR.  My reaction to the passing of Noory's father made me realize I truly don't hate him--I had the same human empathy toward him I would have toward anyone who clearly loved his father knowing his dad had just died and there he was trying to carry on at work.

Some really strange juxtapositions though.  Thanking callers for their condolences in appropriate solemn voice, then immediately switching into, "HEY! If you'd like to be a Coast Insider . . . " in his usual sideshow spiel tones.  Just strange. 

Anyway, R.I.P. Mr. Noory Senior.

Everyone will disagree with me on this one, but I don't feel sorry for Noory; his aged mother, yes.  Having lost an elderly parent last year, I criticize him for doing the show last night.  He belonged with his family; where I worked, everyone took off from work when there was a death in the immediate family, usually for a week to grieve and take care of the funeral, etc.  As the only son, that responsibility should have fallen on Noory, NOT his sisters. 
     Obviously, if you're a soldier in Afghanistan, you can't do this, but C2C is not a vital job and he could have taken off.  In my opinion, he craves the condolences from C2C more than giving support to his mother.  No excuses!  Family comes first and talk is cheap; it's easy to give a verbal eulogy to your Dad on the radio; but being there only for a few a days for a mother in her 80's, shame on him.  Maybe I'm from the old school and I'm a daughter who was super close to my beloved parent, but that's how I feel.  Making excuses for Noory, sorry, there are none in his case.

I don't agree with you, but I think yours is a good perspective too. One thing to realize is that George always mentioned how hard his dad was on him about becoming a dentist. There may be deep issues between them related and resulting from his decision not to be a doctor. Again, I'm not a doctor and I hate to judge him for how he chooses to handle death, but it could be a reason for why he came on the air.

My condolences to George on the death of his father.  Hearing his opening statements brought back a flood of sad emotions for me as I lost my dearly beloved father last year.  If doing the show last night brought George strength, then that was the thing for him to do.  When you are in that situation, you do what you feel is right.

John Boner's spray tan is nothing short of demonic or created by spending ages in some sort of blazing hell. His perpetual inebriation.....well that's another issue.

I gotta agree here. When George choked up, it was the first time I ever felt he was really being himself. Not the cartoon character he's created. I sincerely felt for the man. But then the way he just sort of flipped the switch and went on with his usual plugging nonsense was offputting.

I don't really fault him for doing the show. Sometimes, that first day as you are making arrangements to go wherever you need to go for a funeral, theres not much to do except tie the loose ends up at work and to take your mind off it.

I agree with you, Tara.  I feel much more sorry for George's elderly mother who has just lost her husband AND has a son who's fitting her grief in between a couple of radio broadcasts.  When he said "my sisters are there" I cringed for all of them.  There is no work-related reason why George couldn't and shouldn't have been with them.


I noted a long time ago that George seems to have real trouble confronting anything really emotional.  I think it's one reason he throws so many callers under the bus.  Avoiding going home to a grieving family for any more time than he must would certainly be in keeping with that.


As for the father/son relationship, am I the only one who's heard Noory tell the story of how when his Dad found out he had defied him by switching from pre-dental courses to broadcasting stuff his dad refused to pay for his college expenses?  George said he had to earn the money himself to get his degree.  Who knows if that had a lasting effect?

I agree strongly with those who felt the transitions from the opening statements to the product placements was awkward. I really felt for George and also connected with him during the first hour. I also agree that he showed the audience his real personality for a bit as well.

I agree with Tara above.  When I heard of the death of GN's father, my first thought was "What a shame, he spoke of his Dad a lot." but that quickly became "Why the hell are you doing a radio show tonight?"  Then as I heard the typical Noory interview of the "amoeba people" guy progress, I wondered "How can you be so disconnected from the death of a parent to be doing this silliness tonight."  There's a conflict in announcing his father had passed away, then doing a run-of-the-mill radio show instead of being with his mother and family.  I have great sympathy for George Noory's loss, as would anyone who's received that same long distance phone call.  But  additionally, I was disturbed by what appears to be either a degree of callousness or a level of self-absorsion that I find hard to fathom.

How nice it was of Mitch Batshit to tell George that it's okay to take the night off.  Who asked his permission in the first place?!  George can do what he wants to do, as he's done with C2CAM, so I'm not going to condemn him for not being with his mother and family, the people who needed his support to help them deal with the loss of their grandfather, father and husband. If it had been me I would have said to hell with the show, get a sub to host and pick one from the dozens clamoring to get a foot in the cave-door, I have FAR more important matters to attend to. They need me - now.

I don't know. None of us really know the circumstances. George may have felt that it's what his Dad would have wanted, his family may have encouraged him to do yesterday's show, etc.

I do think that the show after the first hour was pretty average and Noory was disconnected as usual. He had the chance to turn it into something really amazing, maybe have done open lines for a while or something and discuss it. There were a lot of people calling up to express sympathies, and a lot of people going through the same thing that wanted to talk about it. There was a lot of potential for George to make it really a memorable and personal show. He could have tried it out for a while and booked out if it was too much for him. Just go to pre-canned stuff then. Maybe part of the difference is that Art put it all into perspective and explained his situation, and the big picture when things like this happened to him. It's harder to see George putting that out.

His abrupt switch from talking about the situation into a sales pitch for products was very abrupt and disjointed, but again hard for me to blame someone who just lost his Dad. Just my $0.02.
