to be fair, I think the first person who first mentioned it being biblical was that woman who was interviewed by LMH. She said it was either "the revelation trumpets or her neighbors stereo". the whole biblical thing started up soon after that. Decent show though. I think the thing I like about LMH is that she talks a lot, which of course gives noory less time to talk.

Right, and note specifically the STUPID, unanswerable way he asked that or some question right around that point: "What's the chance  that this could be (so and so)...?"  Based on WHAT, Georgie??

How would one compute the "chance" of a condition / occurrence in a hypothesis which in conception is un-falsifiable?   I mean, inasmuch as Georgie would surely imagine that "they" would never reveal anything to do with death rays, etc...?   It would thus be impossible to weigh evidence (i.e., compute a chance) for the "secret sonic death ray" against evidence for anything else, because, essentially as a domain assumption behind that hypothesis, THERE WOULD BE NO EVIDENCE.
So how do we measure that, Georgie?

Exactly what I thought as I sneaked in a guilty hour of live listening. I heard those unanswerable and totally useless questions that George cannot keep from asking and got mad at the jackass all over again. Idiot.

The third episode of this seasons Ancient Aliens was on last night.  They're long past the point of running out of ideas for the show.  It's been migrated over to History Channel 2, I guess it can't even compete with hillbilly handfishing or guys with beer guts opening storage lockers any more.
 
Last nights episode was 'The Greys'.  They took all the previously seen footage of cave painted figures with big heads, eastern tales of flying snakes, tossed in a few segments on abductions, and weaved it into a show.  Thankfully the Mayans were covered in the first 2 episodes, that has sure gotten old.
 
But the real indicator the show has about reached the end is that George came on 3 or 4 times (instead of the usual once or twice) to tell us sumpthin' very 'schtrange' is goin' on out there.  LMH was on waving her arms around, pretty sure I've seen that outfit before, it must be one of her favorites, but Whitley Strieber somehow didn't make the cut.  Imagine not being credible enough for a show featuring George Noary.

Whenever I have trouble sleeping, I play an episode of ancient aliens on netflix, and I'm out in ten minutes. Works like a charm. And every episode has the same damn line thats so annoying- "what if ______ were aliens? according to ancient alien theorists, they are."

As bad as Jorch is, I'm rather bummed that no local affiliate of mine features C2C any more.    No Ian or Knapp. 

I guess that this is indicative of how badly ratings have been falling.  I wonder how many stations have stopped airing the show.

I'm concerned.  I googled and tried to find out how many affiliates that this impacts, but I am not sure.  It is some of the bigger, markets including Albuquerque, that I read got bumped.   If I remember right, that is where George had a couple of meet and greets and he referred to that one as one of the major affiliates. 

I realize that business climates change and this bumping of Coast is due to the merger of Citadel and Cumulus in the biz., but I really wish that there were some more in depth information on this.

Maybe there is some connection to the recent dropping of c2c by many of the affiliate stations and Noory's mysterious disappearances on Friday nights nearly every other week since the start of this new year?
Maybe Noory is starting to do interviews for other jobs around the country during his nights off?

I just want to say that I think the reason you all do it is the reason I used to: it can be funny and entertaining. The shock value of it is the only value it has. When I saw the elvis thread with the clip of Noory singing, I was shocked. I never would have imagined that moron singing on the air. I'm starting to believe the alcoholism allegations we discussed in this thread and elsewhere on coastgab.


While I have stopped listening to Noory because I couldn't take it anymore, and the comic value wasn't cutting it anymore, I won't knock you guys for doing it. I guess when the ship sinks, you can say you were witness. So keep on keeping on

A friend of mine listens to Noory almost nightly now just to laugh at him like I do.
Sadly we don't enjoy the show like we did with Art Bell.

I just learned something surprising from Wikipedia (assuming it's reliable): while C2C is the only overnight radio show listed among the top-rated shows, it's only the 16th-overall most-listened-to, with 3-million listeners...per week. Whoa, that's only 400,000-plus listeners per night! I had thought it was maybe three or four times that.

I have no idea what the figures have been in the past. That's why I wish we could hear from someone with Arbitron access who could tell us the ratings history. 

But maybe a new show motto is needed: "C2C - not so big after all."
"C2C - Big fish, little pond." "CoasttoCoast - catch us while you can."

Yesterday I was checking on the Timebomb2000 website (which originally was a website contributed to mostly by computer tech-type folks preping for Y2K; now it's more rather right wing, doomer/prepper). Some poster there noted that C2C had been replaced on the big station in Chicago, WLS, and relegated to a station with half the power and reach. I thought that was interesting.

I'm a Clif High fan, so by definition I'm a doomer, but I've voted for Nader and would do so again, given the chance, so Obama's way right wing compared to me.  The best radio show for me has been Mike Malloy's show (to which I subscribe), but like most of 'em, he talks too much politics, which bores the heck out of me, when I'd rather hear the most recent news about that unimportant Extinction-Level Event, Fukushima (see enenews.com for really good coverage of that).

Oh, and Scorched Neuron sucks.  But he can't be heard around here anymore, so...

If the affiliates floundering matters at all to noory and folks expect a change in direction.. Expect a surge in paranormal. They tried the edgy Alex Jones style. But Alex Jones listeners can't stay away all night to make it to hear Noory..

When I'm at the computer, I use the Web to listen to Coast to Coast -- it used to be KCMO in Kansas.  Now that station no longer carries it.  I suspect more and more stations will drop Coast to Coast.  The show is incredibly bad and doesn't seem to be getting better; the latest round of non-talents hosting aren't helping.  All good ideas start out uniquely because somebody has a dream and a vision that is yet to be realized.  Then the hangers on and wannabes come in to imitate the success.  The corporate types see an opportunity to make a quick buck and it just gets worse and worse.  Instead of listening to critics who may have a point, they do everything to deflect all but the positive comments, even as it's obvious they have no idea what they're doing.  Then they move on to exploit the next great idea until it too finally succumbs.

Cool. I do listen to a political show in the mornings - Stephanie Miller (which you can catch here, weekdays at 8am central), but there's enough humor there that the politics don't get too tiresome.

It used to be (apparently) that Coast to Coast Starring George Noory was part of a package - if a station wanted Rush, they had to take George.  My guess is with the economy generating less advertising and stations looking to cut costs, if's it's not tied to 'must have' current programing, then dropping George and his lousy show would be an easy decision.   
 
Another possibility is overnight radio is such a wasteland that it took 8 years for people to realize how completely Coast has been destroyed, and that the few listeners it still draws are less than what ratings would be if they just replayed other shows from earlier in the day.

Interesting portion of this interview starting about 6:35, the host has been talking about George's books, the radio show, asks him about anything in the future doing movies, then brings up George's Syfy TV show The Unexplained With George Noory, and why it didn't work out. 
 
First, at about 6:44 George says they 'ran out of money'.  Well, the set wasn't much more than a table and some chairs and the Syfy network is still on, so they probably didn't run out of money. 
 
Continuing on, at about 6:55 George changes the story and says Syfy wanted cameras in the studio during the show and George turned that down because he's been a TV exec and won all those Emmy's and he knows filming it in the studio would be boring, and at 7:20 goes on to say that 'if it's going to be done, it's going to be done right'. 
 
Since George clearly does not know or care what makes for good radio, it's a little hard to believe he knows and cares what makes for good TV.  I'd say it's more like George doesn't want anyone filming him in the studio because he'd have to start putting in effort while the cameras were on.  Imagine watching him reading cue cards and not listening to the guests.
 
So George claims they ran out of money AND they wanted to carry on but film in the studio.  Seems like it can't be both.  Seems like George would not need two stories if one of them is true.  Could it be that Syfy canceled it because it sucked?

I haven't read the Knapp thread yet today, so I don't know if anyone mentions it there, but last night GK was doing the obligatory "Coast Link" push and gave dropped affiliates as a reason people might want to sign up!  I nearly sat up in bed and choked!  He was as much as saying, "Folks, since C2C is a sinking ship, and since Premiere is still trying to make money, I have to try to sell subscriptions to Coast Link." 

Or that was my take, anyway.  Apologies to George Knapp, who I have great respect for, if he didn't mean it this way.

Our morning guy, Brian Sussman, KSFO (Cumulous), wrote a book on the global warming farce and pushed it on C2C.  He's a right winger and actually pretty funny - always with fresh original material.  I'm not a righty but there is value there.  Y'all might enjoy his show and you can hear it 5-9am PT on the station website.  Strangely enough, ever since he has referred to Noorey as "the space guy". I guess it didn't go so good. 

KSFO along with its sister station, KGO, went through a major shake-up this year. Nearly all our local talk hosts were booted, turning KGO into pure local news. KSFO emerged as a Hannity, Levin, C2C  venue but to their credit, they hired a new local politician to replace Rush.
