Do you males know that "birth control pills" are a hormone treatment which are indicated for various non-reproductive issues?

Wonder if Ms. Fluke's friend knows that a doctor can intervene for a patient with an insurance company and often get them to cover things that are medically necessary (as opposed to, er, recreational, cosmetic, optional, etc.)?

Actually, you can appeal most claims! This would probably be one of them. If a physician makes the case that it is for non-contraceptive use, and it is necessary treatment, then most companies will consider it.

which indicate a rise in prices for said drugs at WalMart but don't indicate the Democrats are the cause.  i'm guessing that it was internal pressure from within the big box stores.  these stores were probably fine selling meds at a loss for a year or two but now  that they've converted customers from other stores they are ramping up prices to turn these formerly discounted meds into a profit maker


as for contraceptives ... i think part of this issue is basic economics.  if a woman wants contraceptive brand x but can't afford it, then use a cheaper, [size=78%]alternative[/size][size=78%] method.  if the contraceptive is to be used as a treatment for a condition then the prescribing physician needs to convey that to the insurance company.  i'd say the patient needs to make that argument to the insurance company but since when do insurance companies listen to patients.  or doctors for that matter.    [/size]

I went to my State's caucus today and it was a total joke.  Only 2 other people from my precinct showed up.  I'm not sure why I even went since none of the delegates will be selected or allocated based on the outcome of the caucus.  And the primary was canceled due to "budgetary considerations" by the Secretary of State and the State Legislature.  So in other words, my vote has absolutely no bearing on anything whatsoever.  Fuck this.  Representative government is dead.

I also went to my precinct caucus, or rather, I was my precinct caucus --- I was the attendee, the chair, the secretary and I elected myself the delegate to the GOP district convention later this month. I'm debating as to whether or not I'll wear my Nader/Gonzalez 08 shirt to it (actually this year will be the first time since I've been registered to vote which I won't be able to vote for Ralph Nader for President - I managed the hat trick in 2008 ... assuming Paul doesn't run as an independent I guess I'll probably default to Gary Johnson) ...

Yes, I'm a delegate now too.  I only went because it was my ONLY chance to vote for Ron Paul, even though it was just a meaningless, non-binding straw poll.  I think I'll wear my Savage Nation hat to the convention and complain loudly about Romney and the Republican establishment.  I doubt I'll be making any friends.

Same here, King County.  Mine was at a  school over there in West Seattle.

I think they're banking on a lot of people not knowing and just turning up to the county convention, but the district conventions are the only important ones in King County - the county one is just a pep rally. If enough RP supporters turn out at the district conventions - combined with Paul's majorities in all the northeastern counties - it should be fairly easy to slate the state delegation to the national convention with all Paul delegates, regardless of the straw poll.

        Two things...

            1... This will be the most contentious GOP Convention since 1976.
            2...The longer Ron Paul stays in, the more depressed I get. I like to imagine a scenario where he would get at least 25% of the vote in a general election, but each GOP primary where he remains in single digits is a confirmation that he's got no chance of ever cracking more than 8% in a general election.
