--- Quote from: Frys Girl on June 05, 2012, 08:39:37 AM ---I think the public schools in this country get way too much money. If Americans really think that to get tech savvy adults, we need to put kids in front of computers or use Nintendo Wii to get fit in PE, that's the problem. None of the principles of grammar, physics, and mathematics have changed in a hundred years.
In America, we cry about the stupidest things when it comes to education: Creationism, sex-ed, the list goes on. No wonder kids don't learn. Add to that, parents who have no business being parents. If you have to work 3 jobs, please don't have a kid. Just don't. I don't care what Alex Jones or the Bible says. Kids need a stable home! Schools cannot burden the responsibility of raging, neglected kids. Look at DC public schools and you can get a flavor of what I'm saying. When I worked at a DC public school, I'll never forget when a girl told me that a certain boy was absent because he is in the hospital. That morning on the bus, another student bashed his head into a window. It wasn't this incident that shocked me. It was how calm the kids were when she told me the story! It was as if this was normal or common.
The solution is not hiring more therapists and buying more goods. The solution is parenting. Public schools don't need much more than books and black boards.
So in response to your statement about Paul, funding is failing the public schools.

There is a middle ground here. I didn't say to increase funding especially by raising taxes. I do say that not funding public education is bad and will always be a bad idea. Yes parenting is often the problem... just think how bad it would be with little johnny getting no education.

The Liberal Messiah. Only San Francisco would deify a politician to this extent. It is a reflection of a socialist-minded person to personify their greatest ideals, therefore Obama is perceived as a human state of perfection as long as he espouses the drooling dreck their tiny little minds are looking for.

The city govt in San Francisco (Harvey Milk etc) were also very supportive of Jim Jones (Communist) & the People's Temple.
This is in the news again because there's news of naming a USN ship after Harvey Milk (a Navy veteran).
