Will Art Bell ever come back to the airwaves ?
« on: September 29, 2011, 03:53:30 AM »
With each passing night, I listen to Snoory less and less.

I'm probably not the only one.

I keep wondering if Art knows how much Snoory and Premier have destroyed the program he built and how much people would like him to come back on the air, even on a limited basis.

I'm getting tired of watching Fox in the middle of the night or watching another episode of Ancient Aliens just because Snoory has yet another boring show.

No, you're not the only one.  I listen to Knapp when he's on, other than that I never listen to Noory anymore, and very rarely Punnett.  I put an FM transmitter on my computer, and have my radio tuned to it in my bedroom, then I stream the shoutcast  Art Bell programs, hope that helps.

       Yes!

But I still think the Beatles are reuniting and Mickey Mantle will be hitting third for the Yankees next year.

I have asked my uncle, Don Corleone to look into what is going on. He will get back to me soon. He is the kind of man who wants to hear bad news immediately.

This is clearly the only solution.  Your uncle should make George an offer he can't refuse.  8)

I don't get this attitude! I mean, look at the state of shit. George Noory has ruined a great show. Why are you so adamant about raining on the hopes of others here? It's not a stretch when the man is posting pictures of a studio being fixed up with a huge ass radio-host clock. Even if it is a podcast/vlog, it's better than George Noory's shitfest.

Sorry in advance if this was bitchy, but you have been consistently trying to mock our hopes  :(

A...I'm a realist. Expect the worst, you'll never be disappointed.
B...Don't take it personally, I mock all who put in blind faith in others. You care about C2C than St. Bell ever did.
C  66 is not the age where careers are reborn. Especially when the guy in question quit at 53,55,57 and 62.

I knew you would say something about being a "realist," but I don't think it's realistic, considering how many people do podcasting these days. What I'm imagining isn't a full-blown radio production. Instead, I see a once-a-week show or web cast. That's realistic.

I used to listen to The Don and Mike Show when it was on the air and when Don left to grieve over the death of his wife due to a car accident, he was itching to come back after a couple of years. After getting re-married, he started with twitter and facebook friending to get his fan base aware of his presence and he went to work on a way to wiggle around the difficult contract he had signed to get away from the airwaves. He wasn't lucky, but he had the will.

Hopefully, Art has similar ambitions. I respect him either way, but it would be a nice relief from the limited paranormal options afforded to us by Premiere Radio and George Noory.

I've said it in the past, and I'll say it again. Don't try to predict Art Bell. The guy's had 4 or so wives, a handful of kids- some of which he left while they were young. Done his fair share of goofy shit (read The Art of Talk). Retired and came back to C2C a handful of times. Had a wife die in a RV- mourned her for a few months, then flew to the Philippines to marry a girl that could be his grandchild, knocks her up, lives in Manilia for a few years, then hauls her and Asia back to NV so he can use his HAM radio. After all this I'm suppose to think that him returning to the radio in some form is some obstacle for him and is unlikely?

In his 66 years I think his one and only stable love is radio (again read The Art of Talk). I'm not concerned about his age, and I don't think he is either looking at his life choices over the last couple of years.

There is some reason to why he is making those teases on FB. He is working on something.

In the end, I fail to see how anyone can predict what Arthur Bell is going to do. Far too often we predict what others may do based on what we would do in that person's situation. Art's far too "unique" and egocentric to think that he will remain quiet for the rest of his life.

With the myriad excuses Art gives for not being on the radio, how would a Podcast be any different? While I agree that you can't predict what he does...I tend to believe he likes his current situation where it's all hopes and dreams...not grim reality. Some of his C2C's in 2008-10 were really substandard-the EVP people and Evelyn Pagalini come to mind.

Working for Premier has to depressingly soul-crushing...but maybe Art's lost his fastball.

Maybe, Eddie, but my bet is that working out from under Premier's crushing thumb could put a put a whole new face on Art's game.  ;)

Eddie, don't take it personally, especially given that you're obviously a fellow hardcore Floyd fan, but if I could put you on ignore or make it so I don't have to see your posts, I would.

I'm not a dreamer with unrealistic expectations about this situation--the MOST I'm hoping is for Art to do a handful of shows a year in some form--and I think that stands for most of us who are on the "hopeful/cautiously optimistic" side of "Will Art return?"  I think very few people are blindly or naively expecting the Art Bell of 1995 to suddenly re-emerge and do 7 5-hour shows a week, 52 weeks a year. We're just hoping for SOMEthing, and I think there is considerable evidence that SOMEthing can be expected, and it's straight from the horses mouth.

But your comments and posts go beyond being a "realist" or even a cynic/skeptic. You seem to just enjoy pissing in everyone's corn flakes for the pleasure of it, and it's just getting pretty old. At this point you're just a notch or two above a troll as far as I'm concerned, and that's just not cool, man. Your constant negatives contribute nothing of substance to the conversation.

In other words, if you don't have anything nice to say....just stfu, man, cuz I'm sick of hearing it, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

My opinion, no apologies, don't like it, oh well.

So no spitball to start of the game? Damn, that's rough.  I wonder if he ever uses sandpaper and nail files, or just a little vaseline on the bill of the cap.

Huzzah.  Although a podcast and the feedom that may come with it could light a new spark, I'm convinced HOF Art is done.  The shows in the time period Eddie mentioned were all disappointments for me.  Just wasn't what is used to be.  In all fairness Art was most likely not in "fighting shape" when he did the show, but still...

No apology needed. But my opinion ain't changing. I don't expect the return of JC or AB.. And there is a way to ignore me...by IGNORING ME. One man's negativity is another's reality. Art's the guy you should have an issue with. His decisions lead to Noory. Art foisted Ed Dames upon us,not Noory!...why you cargo cultists refuse to have the slightest bit of critical analysis is beyond me.

You know, this board has been increasingly worthless since Anagrammy left, and with trolls such as yourself dominating and contaminating every conversation, I think it's time I reconsider how much it's worth even bothering with anymore.

Art's returning, or he's not, and either way, life will go on. But at least I don't take joy in inserting misery into other people's lives, as you clearly seem to do.

So, seriously Eddie, go eff yourself. Michael V, ban me for saying it, I really don't give a shit anymore.

Haha, "lardass", I'm SO hurt. I've NEVER heard that before. As for not having a life, I won't even bother to correct you about that, but I'll correct myself about you. You're not an asshole, you're a Masshole. Really, if I'd realized that sooner, I'd never have bothered to disagree with you, because in my experience it's useless to do so with anyone from your part of the world. (No wonder you went for the easy slams, it's all your east coast brain is capable of.)

I'm out, I'm done, peace, later, bye.
