I remember listening to the George Noory Show, I mean 'Coast to Coast AM', not that long after Mr. Noory took the helm.  He must have had a burr under his saddle that night because he took some time pointing out to the international audience how much he just 'didn't care' for Nevada and the landscape and so on and so forth.  I couldn't believe my ears what with Art a long time resident of Nevada, never mind everyone else in Nevada that heard him that night. 

Now let's face it, Nevada is not for everyone.  I've lived here for as long as I can remember so I ought to know.  But for the love of Mike do you, as host of an international radio show, choose to alienate a segment of your audience just to fill air time?  I think not but if you are George Noory you do.

For someone that 'doesn't like Nevada', I get the idea he flies to Vegas at least a couple weekends a month.  Of course George doesn't know Las Vegas is in Nevada, but still...

Oooohhh yes.  The thing that just put the lid on it for me was when he started getting so obviously political.  Back then in my innocent delusion, I emailed him many times to try to explain to him that he was alienating roughly half his audience by making C2C, a paranormal show, a right-wing talk show.

He wrote back regularly assuring me that he is entirely neutral and doesn't even vote in order to prove that he has no political bias.

Not surprised he doesn't bother to vote - another example of George explaning his laziness as a virtue.

I had to read this, oh, maybe six or seven times before I realized that it will NEVER make any sense.  Does he really think that makes sense??  He must have tried listening to George Carlin, but didn't get the joke!

I've lived in Reno, Tahoe and Las Vegas.

Reno is boring and there's nothing to do and no jobs.

Tahoe is beautiful but again nothing much to do if you don't gamble or ski, though if I were to move to Nevada ( which I will do if my forthcoming business projects make me enough money ) I would consider living there. But one week years ago, we got snowed in for a week and I had to shovel a path to the highway from our cabin. I didn't like shovelling snow in Pittsburgh, it was worse in Tahoe.

Las Vegas is jumping all the time but is ungodly hot in the summer, though if one is smart you arrange your schedule to go out to the casinos and sit in their air conditioning during the day and go home at night when it cools down.

Ever notice that you seldom see people walking the Strip in the daytime ? It's too hot, that's why.

I was never bored in Las Vegas. There was always something to look at or do or go, even if one went out into the hills or the desert.

I've driven between Las Vegas and Reno via the desert highway. Kind of eerie at night and if you're not careful you can get lost. My Dad was driving one night and somehow we wound up in Death Valley by mistake. He turned around and found a light in the darkness to ask for directions and it was one of the brothels one could find on the highway up to Reno. I thought it was funny getting directions in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night.

The desert has a beauty all its own at night though during the day it's something you want to get out of asap. I'm talking about undeveloped land that you drive through not populated areas.

George Noory is a city boy and has never probably taken the time to LOOK at what's in the desert both flora and fauna. It's his loss.
