Rod Serling's life has always interested me, from his time as an amateur boxer/military service with the 511th demolition squad (where he experienced things that would work their way out through his literary work) to his time as a parachute tester/radio man. He was actually a parachute tester for cash. He almost died in an ejection seat test that killed the three previous testers.
I believe that he received something like 70 rejection letters before he got a script off the ground, and eventually some of his rejectors ended up working for HIM.
Never afraid to confront racism, alternate dimensions or alien beings, Rod Serling was a pretty cool guy in my book.
Night Gallery was his other great series... which I do not own copies of!
He also hosted the pre-cursor to what I hold as the greatest documentary series ever created, "In Search Of..."
