...let's all step back and see what the politicalization of "Coast" via Wells does to us.
I'm not a Wells defender. If you check my posts, you'll see I gave him a chance, then essentially declared him a failure--but based on ineptness, not political viewpoint. I'm not really looking for someone to agree with--I'm looking for articulate, intelligent discussion. Don't agree with Knapp or Ian half the time when they venture into the political realm, but I find them both intellectually stimulating. And I make it a point regularly to read and listen to political viewpoints that oppose mine, believing as I always have that it's important to spend as much or more time understanding the opposition as those who might be in lockstep with my views.
That said, you don't really know my political views. I simply heard a tinge of what I too often find in the far left in your original comment to Valdez, a rather smug reminder to others that he was, of course, giving some sort of "skewed" and therefore suspect rendition that other coastgabbers should be wary of. I found that rather insulting both to Valdez and to a very bright group of posters, all of whom appear quite discerning enough on their own to understand other posters' POV most of the time.
If that was not your intent, my apologies for making a hasty judgment.
Edited to add: this is why the political stuff ought to stay on the politics thread Michael created. In. My. Opinion.
