« on: June 18, 2011, 03:50:03 AM »
For those of you who now how to FTP, I have setup a test ftp site with my collection of shows and various other items.  This is a NO SNORY SITE.
You will need an ftp client and can download the Filezilla ftp client for free from here  http://filezilla-project.org/download.php?type=client

Host address is 66.27.143.64
Username is ftpuser
Password is FTP@user (case sensitive)
Port 21

I am limiting it to 4 connections.
Enjoy!!  8)

If it times out can I assume that it's because the 4 connections are being used, or is it a problem on my end? (Sorry--have managed to avoid using FTP till now, been a torrenter...)

Also any chance you could list here what episodes are on there?

Timeouts could be an issue with the site. I will check the logs. Is it timing out after a certain amount of inactivity on your end? Or at a certain time in the download?
I will create a text file with all the episodes and put in the home folder when i get a chance. It is fairly organized but not all the files have descrpitve names. I dont believe it has reached for 4 connection limit yet and that would only prevent the 5th user login.

it's timing out as soon as I log in. I'm getting the "welcome, this is a no snoory zone" message, and then it's timing out right after that, before it can retrieve the database.

That looks like an issue on your end.  What client and OS are you using?

Filezilla and XP.

In the filezilla try >edit>settings  increasing the timeout value and/or running the configuration wizard. or check the below link for more

Thanks. Edited the settings, trying now, will run config if that doesn't work and let you know how it goes. Like I said, I've managed to avoid FTP all these years, so this is new to me. Appreciate the help.

Still no luck, and I have to run out, so I won't have a chance to run the wizard till tomorrow. I don't suppose you could make a torrent out of it?

Thanks for the heads up. If it is alright with you, I may connect up tomorrow to see if there are any shows I don't have in my collection.  Right now I have every show from 2003 until 6/10/11 in MP3 format on a hard drive, and I'm working on getting all the shows I recorded since 1994 on VHS copied onto my computer and reformatted....

You have your work cut out.  I dont have that complete a collection and have deleted all my Noory. But you're welcome to whatever you need.

Just tried it (WINscp  - windows7) and got a message about not being able to find the "/" directory

The attached image is the error message.  i used cut and paste for all your info, and get as far as trying to read the directories, so that's not it.  i use this client all the time w/o problems.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for the effort, BTW!

Hmmm.  I don't even see your login attempts. Give it another try. I am not familiar with that ftp client.

bschott have you been in touch with Malacoid from Demonoid and the Artaudio newsgroup? He's putting yearly torrents together with every episode. He's working his way backwards and just finished 2005 (2006-11 are already done). He's tagging them with a consistent system that makes them easy to sort and catalog.

Obviously the further back with Coast you go, the better it is, so in my book he's just now approaching the good stuff...I'd love to see you combine efforts with him. I can get you his contact info if you want. Let me know.

Gandalf I haven't had a chance to go back and try again, and probably won't till this weekend. But I appreciate the help all the same.

To chime in, and with due respect, I think the problem is likely on your end, specifically your FTP server client.

Of course I can't know for sure, but I'm speculating that you're using a Microsoft FTP client on your (or one of your) home computer(s), vs space provided by your ISP.

I have found that using the MS FTP server software to be routinely disastrous, going back many years.

I too, have been getting the same error messages as everyone else in this thread, and I've tried numerous FTP apps, browsers, and Download Managers, all of which should work with a properly set-up system.

Assuming I'm right about this being on your home system, and that you have a dedicated HD (500GB as a guess?) for your archives, you are inadvertently pointing us to your root directory, which the software doesn't like/won't allow.

Perhaps more information as to how you have YOUR system set-up would help us get to the bottom of the problems. Suggestion: if using the MS FTP client, dump it.

Best of Luck.

You are right about it being MS's FTP server.  I was just testing the latest version 7.5 to see if it had improved much since I last used it. They have added SSL and improved the interface but it still sucks.

It's strange though because I did have some users successfully connect and download files with that account.

NO worries that was enough of a test of 7.5. I have switched to a different ftp server. Should work now.

Thanks, Gandlaf - rolled right in this time no problem.  It must have just been the "random glitch of the moment"

Thats all the JC i have and I even included the ones with Snoory, though i was tempted no to.  You know how that goes, whatever George touches, turns to shit.
If anyone has any missing files except for Snorry (I refuse to listen to the man) could they send me an email and I will setup a personal account that lets them upload files.

noory is difficult to listen to ill agree, everytime i hear his voice i picture him wearing a pedobear suit, in my mind he is the voice of the pedobear. that said jc has had some classics with noory like the one where jc was watching porn and george asked him what he had playing in the background, and one where he says george is drunk which i cant seem to find. also your missing one where he called art bell and blamed 911 on black people which is the rarest jc call ive been turning the internet upside down looking for that one.

There is a demonoid torrent with all of JC's calls. You can find it here.

http://www.demonoid.me/files/details/2569312/3685540/

There is also a demonoid torrent with all of Phil Hendrie's Art parodies, which are brilliant and deserve to be preserved alongside the real thing.

http://www.demonoid.me/files/details/2664012/3685540/

You DO need to be a demonoid member to get them, though. It's free, but I'm not sure if they're taking new members at the moment....

For those of you who enjoy automation with your downloading experience, I have compiled a link list of all 7270 files on gandalf50's site. If you are familiar with download managers, this will make downloading his entire site, or just portions of it, automated. Here is how it works:

I have compiled a list of direct links to every file - it is in plain-text format, and has an .lst (list) extension.

I personally use Flashget as my download manager (more out of old habit than anything else -there are numerous good D/L managers out there). Virtually all D/L managers allow you to import a "list" of links to download, so you needn't go through the tedium of selecting them individually, or even change folders as with an FTP client, as my "list" does the work for you.

All you need to do is, set-up your download manager with the appropriate username and password, IMPORT the .lst file, and voila! The files will be auto-downloaded for you.

Since the .lst file is a simple plain-text file, it can be edited simply with any plain-text editor, for example - notepad in Windows. Just edit out the files you don't want, save the .lst file (or use whatever extension your D/L manager requires, and you're in beeswax.

I have tested it, and it works. Aimed mainly at the geeks among us who enjoy automation and download managers.

You can download the "list" file here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?k949oobhhou09b3

Kudos of course, to gandalf50 for his willingness to share  :D

(for example, using Flashget, you simply choose File>Import List and start downloading)

Looks like they are not.  I used to have a bunch of the phil hendrie parodies, but lost them. I am trying to rebuild that and and get older Art shows I may be missing.
I anyone has them let me know and i can setup a private account that will let you upload. The ftpuser account is a download only account.

Thanks ( I think  :o) for the effort Hal.  But I am updating the site quite abit and the links and files names are constantly changing. So your list may become obsolete quite quickly.  I am also updating the audio books folder and had to take it offline completely.

I have modified the site for those of you without ftp clients.
You can just open your browser and go to http://66.27.143.64/
and enter the password and login and then choose the web client.
Its simple to use and not as full featured as some clients, but does even alow you to highlight a file an play it wthout downloading. For those of you who are only looking for specific files and want to preview first.
