Since anything goes in this area, I decided to post a video as a mood setter in the wake of my leaving.  Something to remember me by while I'm gone. I do this in remembrance of me.

On this day before departure to lands somewhat unknown for a wyrking vacation, I contemplate the state of our once fine country.  Thirty-two years ago, Howard Beale succinctly voiced our concerns in NETWORK.

His rant is more true, more on the mark, than ever before.  It's how we feel but far too often don't show it or say it.

How long before the average American citizen gives up, departs for a vacation and chooses not to return?  Don't think I haven't considered it.

I leave you then, with the video clip as a catalyst to get those neurons firing and that blood boiling and if you ACT NOW as a SPECIAL BONUS FOR A LIMITED TIME ONLY, under the video, I also posted a FREE picture of my NEWLY IMPROVED majestic self.  As you can see by my wide open shirt, it can never be said I did not reveal my ~true essence,~ nor that I have anything to hide.  (23 points to anyone who can ID the picture behind my right shoulder.)  Limited time only.  File will degrade after a few days to the likeness of the data banks on the SS Seaview.

Auf Wiedersehen...

Ummmmmm - what ARE you going on about!? Is this creative writing, or are you really taking leave of GNS - or your senses?

I'm often not quite sure what to make of your posts  though you are clearly bright and creative.  It's hard to know when and what to take seriously!

Hmph . . ..

Well - if you wanted confusion, you got it.  If you wanted empathy or compassion for something I'm not aware of - you'll  need to be more clear.

VACATION?

Oh yeah, I seem to vaguely recall something called a "vacation."

My guesses at what the picture is or is of -

1. Charlie's Angels
2. ABBA
3. Heart
4. Fleetwood Mac
5. Some martial arts movie with a female lead,  like Sister Street Fighter

Correctly interpreted!

I have returned from the famous wyrking vacation (though I did make 3 or 4 swing by postings during this last month.)

I am speechless that Miss July is already here, waiting at the front door as Miss June is about to sneak out the back.

No, no I'm sorry. We were looking for Phantasm. Yes.  But we have some really lovely and wacky parting gifts for you if you'll just follow Tiffany around to the back.

Watch the back of your dress,Tiff.  He looks like a tailgater.

I am considering writing about it and posting it here as a short essay if it turns out amusing enough.  I would like to stay down to a length similar to the "A Letter To Ian Punnett."

For now, I can say that several days were out of the country and I was actually "wyrking," while the rest of the time was parsed into clumps in the states within what I consider doable driving distance targets and the only working done was private writing material.  I love to drive and investigate on the way to anywhere.  That's a large part of the fun.   I'm not much of a flyer. I'm too tempted to pull pranks that will land me in airline stew.

I sound a bit cryptic.  In reality, it was simply an excellent REBOOT period.  For the most part, I stayed away from cell phones, internet, TV, etc.  Catching just a little news and phone calls that couldn't wait.  I ignored almost all email and voice mail except very familiar contacts.  Most electronic interaction was done while at home base preparing for the next roadtrip.

I'm using these last two June days or so to play catch up, when in fact I am not officially due back to the Rat Races until July 1.

It will be good to return to a pattern.

If we don't have SOME kind of tether, we can just float the Hell away I think, which is tempting, but not very productive in my case and could lead down that road to homelessness and living on the beach, selling weird/wired crap:

Handmade miniature Carribean musicians. The perfect souvenir! Crafted from seashells, wire, and the interesting flotsam and jetsam brought in via Neptune's folly. No two alike.  Donations and gift cards above purchase price accepted.  Have a nice day.  God Bless.  All sales final.

(laughing)

No, I didn't leave you hanging like ... like some Ice Cream Man, Phan.

Speaking of Phantasm, I have taken the proper steps to voice my opinion to Don Coscarelli to consider using Roy Thinnes as an additional Tall Man if Phantasm 5 coalesces (questionable.)  But will he suffer through a fool's rambling suggestion(s)?  They have contact information at www.phantasm.com and I think Coscarelli owns the site.  So far, no response from the web administrator, other than "your comments have been forwarded."  How many messages does Coscarelli get in a day or month?  10?  1000?  I digress.

Thinnes is in the front of my mind because I saw the interview on the recently released THE INVADERS DVDs (first season.)  Thinnes would be beyond perfect for the role, should they need an additonal Tall Man or (God forbid) a replacement for Mr. Scrimm (aka L. Rory Guy).   It seems Coscarelli is concentrating on Bubba Nosferatu, set in New Orleans as a prequel to Bubba Ho-Tep.  So Phantasm 5 seems dodgy at best.

As far as Amy Winehouse... good GOD, man.  No reason to get nasty about it.

I recently discovered that Elvis will be played by Ron Perlman in Bubba Nosferatu - Bruce Campbell passed on it.

Paul Giamatti will play Colonel Tom Parker.

Campbell fans are distraught, but I believe Perlman will nail it and  Giamatti will deliver.

Prepare for greatness.  Prepare for Joe Bob Briggs.  Prepare for She-Vampires with cleavage.

In November, the first question posed by Vanity Fair to Giamatti was:

VF Daily: Do you appreciate just how beautifully bizarre it is that the Emmy-winning actor of John Adams is personally championing a movie called Bubba Nosferatu and the Curse of the She-Vampires?
