I actually just got a raft of shit from some woman on Art's facebook page, where she basically posted, "Art, it would be nice if you'd actually say hi to the people on your page". The tone of that comment just really hit me the wrong way...like she was demanding that Art acknowledge her, like he owes her something. So I pretty much pointed out, Art's a busy man, he has a young family (which another poster took as me slamming the age of Art's wife--whatever), and it IS his page, and he will use it, comment on it and communicate with it when HE wants, and on HIS terms. And I pointed out that comments like hers, as well as the dozen-plus-posts from a bunch of people with all their pet conspiracy theories, expecting that they are going to be the ones who draw the "Old Art" out of his shell, are probably having the exact opposite effect, and that maybe she and others might want to cool it. 5000 people posting and screaming "Pay attention to ME, Art!" is probably not going to have a positive effect.
So I was accused of appointing myself Art's "spokesman" (something that was maybe sorta true for about 5 minutes a year or so ago, but not before or since), and when she didn't have a rational comeback to all of my points, she just said "whatever" and gave up. Ironic, that along with many of you I've been calling out certain others *coughFortRockcough* for ACTUALLY appointing themselves as Art's spokesman (I've made certain Art is aware of him btw, and this has been acknowledged). And then I'm accused of doing the exact same thing. Ah well.
There's no particular reason for this rather rambling screed, except to underscore the point that it's probably true: the more bickering, the more spam, and the more "pick ME, Art!" he sees, the less he IS likely to post. Which is a shame. A few people have to ruin it for everyone...
