I just checked smeter.net. It says that it will be offline for 2 weeks while they move the server from Salt Lake City to Newport Oregon. Wasn't the show run out of Medford Oregon back in the 90's? Methinks something is afoot. But NCIS is on so I have to go.

Oregon?  Didn't Fort Rock have a Portland source??? Oh God its coming full circle!

Art's smart enough to avoid committing himself to something he doesn't really mean.  He meant both, IMO.

Looked at that way, Art's statement likely does apply to both, Scully.

Isn't the photo above, which I assume you are speaking of, his studio in the Phillipines? Did they move back?

Perhaps Ramona chose the original curtains and he got used to them night after night.  Now, putting the updated behind the clock that he would need to pay attention to reminds him a little of his past and ties everything in together?

The Bell family moved back to Pahrump Nevada over a month ago.

Hey folks - I don't come around much anymore but when I do I am still baffled at how everyone misses the '30' on Art's farewell cam-card.  OK so maybe it is a ham operator's shorthand for 'later dude' or whatever .... but I think the intent from Art relates to his news background, where journalists/copy writers/editors would all use a '-30-' at the bottom of their copy to indicate 'end of story' (saved newsreaders from looking for another page).

So can we please put the '-30-' to the '30' discussion ....... sheeesh, what do  you kids learn these days anyway?????

ok - carry on . . . .

Howdy,
Art could have been giving his "30" to Coast to Coast and Premier. That's not to say he couldn't start something new via Satellite Radio, or something else. Just a thought.

It's too bad that we could not find a way to place wagers to whether Art's coming back or not.

As for the "30" stuff. That was sorta cryptic. Far more cryptic than the 4 or so times he announced an official "retirement" and then came back.

I kinda miss that crazy bastard, FR. Often when I'm talking to random friends on the street and I'm asked a question I don't know or immediately recall, I tell them I'll have to check with my sources in Portland. Of course then they look at me like I'm an idiot. Am I the only one that does this?

Tonight I will be up all night waiting for the imminent attack on Iran by US/Israel so I will haunt the ham bands looking for Art. If I hear anything I will let you know. I am just inside the skip zone for nevada on 80 meters.

Any idea where we could download it? I can hear Pahrump from here on 40 but I did not hear anything last night.

I happened to listen to Beck on his radio program the other day.  He was still splurting saliva and crap about the coming end of the world and something about gold futures.  Jesus.

Beck just replaced Savage on my local Neocon station (the same one that carries Coast as well as Limbaugh and Hannity). I don't agree with the politics of either one, but at least Savage has a personality, some humility, some earnestness, a sense of humour, and can be truly entertaining even when I absolutely disagree with and/or abhor what he's saying. (Fortunately he found a new local affiliate, albeit it an earlier time slot.). Savage is also somewhat unpredictable, and ultimately, comes across like a real human being.

By contrast, in listening to Beck for exactly one show, I heard a smooth, slick, polished, soulless, passionless. gold-shilling tool. You know exactly what he's going to say on every topic, without fail, delivered in that same modulated, dulcet monotone, that follow-me-and-you-will-live-forever voice usually reserved for cult leaders and politicians (that's redundant right?).

Beck? No thank you. But I think it's telling that Mr. Noory always speaks highly of him.

He did just give a sermon to his followers on a mount in Jerusalem. You want to hear crazy, check out that audio. The man is either a raging nut, or the world's greatest troll.

That "30" is open to interpretation.  I believe that the "long live hot air" was Art's way of saying that coast is no longer the show that he remembered... it changed.  the 30 was saying that it is the end of an era.  No more Art on coast... no more old style coast.

To look carefully at the statement you have to consider what "long live hot air" was referencing.  If you believe Art was referencing Coast then you have to apply the "30" to that statement.  He was saying that "all that is left of coast is hot air.  End of story"

Could be that he was saying "good bye" for all time.  However, that was awfully cryptic and I am waiting to hear those words from his mouth.

99% of the time he doesn't respond to anything posted to his profile on FB. That's why it catches my eye anytime that he does..

Many people have asked or flat out pleaded for him to come back but I don't think he has answered anyone.

That's what annoys me about the whole thing. If Art has no intention of coming back and is happy with retirement then why not just flat out say it and then it will get people off his back. I have no problem with his retirement and not returning to the air but I do have a problem with teasing and stringing along especially if he has no intention of coming back.

I have a feeling it wouldn't matter if Art announced if he was DONE. People would still plead with him to come back

Exactly why I think he will come back. He would have responded with a message saying he loves retirement so much and will not come back to broadcast. But since he hasn't, I think it more likely he has to line up many things to come back on the air, legally and financially. And like any big announcement, like someone announcing a run for President, how it's done is important for marketing purposes among other things. It will be big news when he does come back, and lots of promotion. Him announcing on Facebook doesn't seem as likely.  I doubt he'll be back on Coast to Coast, but more likely in some other form. Maybe on Satellite Radio, or another network. I think it will be sooner than later.

I share your thoughts, Area 51, although I think he may say something affirmative on FB at roughly the same time as his return is broadcast elsewhere.

I definitely do not think his return will be on Coast to coast.  8)
