This plasma television thingee is Art's Ebay.  The price is $500.00 if "you buy it now."  Shipping is you provide the pickup.

I am a permenant resident of the Philippines and we will go back again but my Wife's green card was at risk if we stayed longer and I was not allowed to have a antenna, so for now we are here and working like dogs on the house.

Well I guess that's it then. Art's not coming back to the airwaves. The return to the states was Green Card related. Oh well. The dream was nice while it lasted. Can we close this thread now? :)

"I was not allowed to have a antenna, so for now we are here and working like dogs on the house."

Why would he need an antenna if he was not coming back to radio? It may be a HAM, but it's radio. Now everyone go get yourselves a nice HAM radio and you can hear and talk to Art.

As for mainstream radio, I'm not giving up hope for that either. Art is a rather unique man. The guy flew off to the Philippians, married a college age girl and had a kid with her all within a year or so of his former wife dying. I will never predict one way or another to what Art could be doing. As I said before, I'm not sure if Art knows what his future plans are.

Good point. Art is very spontaneous. I won't lie though. I'm disappointed at this. He really built up mystery and suspense and ...... nothing. Ugh!

I thought Birnes made an annoucement? Art was going to do a radio show on the internet?  WTF?

I don't think Art ruled out anything in his statement.  He may be hoping that his wife catches on to the US.  I worked with a guy who married a lady from Thailand.  He would love to go back there to live but his wife says no way.  She is very happy to be in the USA.  Art will simply be (bi-national)?

I agree.  Why are you guys assuming that his reasons for the move rule out a return to radio in some form? I still think "stay tuned, things are going on in the background" means something--what ELSE could it be but the return to radio announcement we've all be hoping for and anticipating? I would put forward that if he had NO intention of returning to radio, he'd make that abundantly clear.

The move may have been green card related but perhaps it was also a catalyst for him to decide to do something again (maybe even as a way of making the best of the situation). Or maybe he already had an offer/opportunity on the table and the move dovetailed with it nicely. Who knows?

I'll repeat what I've said before...guarded optimism is the way to go here. Don't get hopes TOO up (he returns to C2C 5 nights a week and drives Noory away), but don't assume the worst, either (we'll never hear Art on the radio again). Just continue to be patient and hopeful and he will do exactly what he wants to do and will let us know in his own time.

I don't read a final goodbye into Art's post.  Why are they "working like dogs" to fix up the house in Pahrump?  Just to be there a short while?

I'm sure the family will return to the Phillipines from time to time, if for no other reason than to visit Airyn's family.  That little girl is a powerful magnet for visits with the grandparents.  If I were gonna go flying back and forth between countries, I know I'd love to have a home in both places.  Why stay at Motel 6 when you can have a condo of your own ready and waiting for your visits?

The green card thing may or may not be a real issue. Anyone know the requirements for keeping something like that?  In fact, I thought I'd heard Art say on air last year that Airyn has U.S. citizenship now.  Anyone remember for sure?  Little Asia is a U.S. citizen for sure, born in the USA.  Would they separate mother and child?

As I said earlier in this thread, I'm reading "The Art of Talk" right now.  Believe me, Art is nothing if not full of contradictions.  Re-read it if you don't believe me.  ::)

That's true, I guess. He has made a bunch of "stay tuned" comments.

But until he comes out and says otherwise, I'll abandon hope of a return at this point. I wish the guy the best.

don't believe those internet third party hearsay rumors. they are always false with art bell.
i figured all along that bell was just visiting pahrump again like last time he did so regarding his wife's visa, and will later go back to manila. turned out to be right...

sounds like a good thing to do to get a good price for an eventual sale, just like selling the stuff inside like a plasma HDTV...

Then you don't believe Art when he says they're getting a larger tv to replace the old one?

yes but he didn't specify exactly where he will be getting and watching that bigger TV - perhaps in Manila?  8)

I don't believe his location precludes a return to radio. Remember, he did coast shows from Manila.

If he were to do an internet show as Birnes appears to suggest, that would even be easier than broadcast radio was.

Still not convinced he's returning though...His "stay tuned" may be a child on the way, or maybe a new book. But I hope for the best...

"We are currently catching up on True Blood, Breaking Bad and Mad Men"

I think it's fair to say Art got his 55", and it's at his NV home. I figured him for a breaking bad fan.

I also think it would be silly and VERY expensive for him to buy a giant TV in the states and ship it to the Philippines! It'd be much cheaper to just, you know, buy it there. But then I'm sure they already have a TV there, or several.

Really, I think these are separate tracks. Where Art lives and whether he returns to radio are, as far as I can tell, two different subjects. I'm sure there is a connection or at least, the one will impact the other, but--the answer to one question doesn't necessarily have any bearing on the other.

And yes, Art could just as easily broadcast from Manila as from the States. He's already done it. So that's a moot argument.

No, I'll remain on the path of guarded optimism--neither assuming the worst nor getting my hopes up too much, but keeping all possibilities open.

You can`t tell me that Art isn`t risking subdural hematoma from self-bludgeoning of the frontal cranium due to extreme boredom. How can this man, this legend, this pioneer, be content with living in a third-world country, changing cat litter and house hubbing for a girl old enough to be his great
granddaughter, while she`s lip syncing to Lady Gaga videos?

Excuse me, but I just don`t get it.

This would be my feeling in general, too, except for that pesky HAM radio hobby of his. I think right now when he's not "working like a dog" on his house renovations, he's talking to operators around the world on his home setup, which keeps him busy enough.

Airyn has mentioned, too, on FB that she and Art both love Breaking Bad.  I've read that she was educated to be a teacher.  These are 2 things that make me think she's not really into Gaga.

I DO think Art wants to add to his radio-lust addiction as soon as it's legally possible.  Exactly how, we peons will have to stay tuned to find out.  ;)

The "enigmatic Scully", always cerebral and analytical. You`re probably right. But how much pleasure can you get out of asking a guy in Budapest how the weather is holding up?

I don't understand that either FtF, but apparently you and I are missing something here.  Art's been loving chatting with those Budapestians since he was 13 years old, and he still loves it enough to move thousands of miles just to have a bigger antenna.

Go figure.  ::)

The true question is this: How long can this thread last. If we do go into 2012 without a 'big announcement' from Art besides the sale of his old sweaty gym equipment, are we going to abandon the thought he will come back? ... and on the flip side, if we do have him come back, are we going to be disappointed.. ? will he be the same old Art? Would he ever change? .. so many questions. I wonder if he has a blender for sale. I'll keep watching.
