That was a cool guitar but not expensive. $750 a
back in '95. I also had a '63 Epiphone Rivera. A cool guitar but I never played it because I was sure someone would steal it.

Absolutely nothing if they are set up properly. Sample variation from Fender is wide and has been for decades; there are definitely good and bad examples. If you have the coin, save some time and buy a Sadowsky, Mike Lull, or Nash off the bat. Just my opinion. I gave up on US Fender basses about 15 years ago.

Man, I'm so guitar'ed out by the end of the day that I really didn't see this all coming up on coastgab.  Interesting discussion though, you guys all know your guitars pretty good.

I'd stay away from the Nash though, they're kind of ill fitting, not much attention to detail, and they have plastic nuts...  Any guitar over a grand should have a bone nut IMO.

Hey Everyone! Hope everyone is doing well!

Saw the posts about guitars and had to comment. I was doing some "touring" back in 05 and 06 with a band I was in for sometime. We were in Toledo and there was about 5 people there (yes the band was a big failure much like my podcast) and one of the guys in the other bands had a 73 SG. He thought it would be a great idea to do a guitar flip for the massive crowd and cracked the neck in half. Not a expensive guitar but supposedly worth about 1200 in Average/ Good condition. In my eyes still a painful site to watch.

Also talked to Art briefly on Echolink a couple of times. Very friendly on the HAM. I find myself nervous not wanting to say anything stupid to him. I probably sound like a high school fanboy...I haven't brought up Coast either I don't want to be intrusive.

I haven't been searching around on here too much and haven't seen anything about this but I heard a new guy on Coast on Saturdays. I do live sound at a bar on the weekends so I caught a sliver of this new guy. You think they hired him because he voice slightly resembles Art's a little bit.

Anyway...
Cheers Mates.

Do they play those on the air in your area? All we get here is the live broadcast, so the Fine Art stream makes a good replacement.

I thought the same thing.  I thought the whole Nash thing was a gimmick, especially the "relic'ing".

I got my hands on one a couple of years ago before they were thoroughly popular when my buddy took a punt on one after visiting Orlando.  He ended up selling two Sadowksy basses because they were not seeing any action at all.  The fit the bill for a proper-Fender.  I could do without the look, but they play like butter.

I might need to start gigging again so I can come close to justifying a Nash PB-57.  I yearn.

Just a couple of quick points to make. Firstly to Michael, thank you for removing those links, you DO have a heart! Secondly, to be totally honest, I had totally forgotten that Podcast Interview on the Los Angeles Pagan Coven Networking Picnic Project of 2006. Strange, when your not having fun at work to the extreme, you forget a lot!

Did you also forget about the young, soon to be married, woman school teacher for whom you harassed with innumerable phone calls - and she finally had to contact the police  about what she describes as, "...he created this entire relationship in his head that never existed."?

Her exact quote:
"On a total other note, I was supposed to be high priestess of a coven called the Grand Lodge of Gaia with this gentleman. I finally realized that I just did not have the time due to the school schedule and my wedding; plus the guy who was supposed to be the high priest was scaring me a little bit with like 9 or 10 phone calls every Sunday. So, when I tried to cut it off, he, of course starts consistently calling me and leaving these crazy messages. It's funny really because I met him twice and we talked a few times on the phone, but he created this entire relationship in his head that never existed. Okay, it was more scary than funny. Chris actually rushed back from his shoot on Saturday because he was so scared for me too. I finally had to call the police because he wouldn't stop calling me, but things seem to have calmed down finally. I think, or at least I HOPE that he got the hint. I've never really had to deal with a semi-stalker situation before and it was a little scary."

I've also noticed that when one types your first/middle/last name into Google, the first link that arises contains all the information that was here - with a few tidbits added. Even just Googling first/last name, the same info shows up as the 30th link.

Don't listen to that woman, she's totally making it all up. It wasn't like that. They DID have a relationship, and it was deep and meaningful, but that other guy stole her away and brainwashed her against Doug. that's the real truth. Or my best approximation of what would be offered as such by FR...

While I in no way condone stalky behaviour (and I've been on both sides of that grimey coin), I can't help thinking that anyone who can use the phrase "high priestess of a coven called the grand lodge of gaia" with a straight face NEEDS a bit of a wake-up call.

...cue an appearance on this forum by the trolly little 'psychic healer' girl who decided that I was infested with demons because I suggested she cheer the fuck up a bit...

So I guess Art really did retire. Any update on the news we need to "stay tuned" to? :p

HAhaha, I saw that and came right here knowing that you would have the picture posted already. Well played. I see that time that he took the picture was 2:42. That must mean something. I bet he's getting set to do 242 new shows. :o

Or he's a big fan of Front 242 and was rocking their classic song "Welcome to Paradise", whose lyrics no doubt many Noory and Wells followers would find interesting....

Or, being that 2:42 is the perfect length for a pop song (http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=5&ved=0CGsQFjAE&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.wired.com%2Flistening_post%2F2008%2F04%2Fis-242-the-perf%2F&ei=AFiXT_qUH9KM6QGwu-DODg&usg=AFQjCNG-uh18ZVK-1YPhMt7eDCECggptpg) is Art equally trying to say he went as far as he could?

Or maybe, we John Wells would do, we can look to the Bible: http://bible.cc/acts/2-42.htm  Act 2:42 speaks about devoting yourself to apostles' teaching. Maybe Art is going religious on us?

I'd be interested though in knowing if it was 2:42 in the AM or PM. Wonder if he is a still a night owl.  And while I know firsthand that Art is aware of what goes on during the modern day Coast to coast, I doubt he listens.

Glynis: 2+4+2 resolves to "8," and "8" is the money number.  Art is obviously contemplating new ways to make money with his radio equipment.  Stay tuned boys and girls!

The man is DYING to get back on the air! Isn`t it obvious? All that gear and no show to do? Are you kidding me?

He`s going to end up on-air somewhere. At least part-time.
