i remember when Art talked about buying that plasma HDTV on the air back then.
but you could get a far better more advanced plasma HDTV model for $500 or less now, so thats not a good price for an old used one.
he should try eBay.  ;D
but it's Art Bell's old plasma tv... think of all the hot action that will get ya.

It's odd that he still has a KNYE email, AND that he needs 500 bucks. Maybe the economy has got to Art's 401K
I don't think it's the 500 bucks that Art needs.  He needs the thrill of having an obsessed fan come over to his bunker and pay too much for a 6 year old TV and hearing him say over and over, "It's such a pleasure to meet you Mr. Bell."

You're probably right. He should realize that his mysterious luster loses some of it's magic when he's hawking old TV's for 500 clams. BTW, I don't think he lives in a bunker. It's more of a double wide with a racketball court attached.

He's had the kyne email address on his facebook page since his return to the US. I don't think it necessarily has anything to do with him returning to the air via KNYE. One can only hope but that is all it is at the moment.

What do you think is under that racketball court?  Probably a bunker.

Art should just move the 42" plasma HDTV into the bedroom when he replaces the main living room TV.
Thats what most folks do...  ;D

No doubt I'm the last Coastie to read "The Art of Talk," but the public library here doesn't own it. Had to buy it from Amazon for a few bucks.

I'm reading it, and I'm at the part where Art goes to the Pahrump Chamber of Commerce specifically to encounter the employee who's been answering inquiries about him by saying he's a recluse.

"I'm Art Bell, and I'm not a recluse."

"Well, Mr. Bell, you don't want people to bother you, do you?"

"No."

"Well, I just tell people that you're a recluse and that we don't let people know where you live."

"You're right, I don't want people to visit me.  But I'm still not a recluse."

It's a fun book and wonderful help for armchair analysts of the man of mystery.  8)

(Makes me wonder how on earth he managed to stay in a big city like Manila at all.  The man swears over and over that he will never leave his beloved desolate desert.)

The plot seems to thicken:

"I love the Philippines and would never give up our Condo in
Global City which is every bit as clean and nice as any major U.S. city."

Posted an hour ago to Art's facebook. A lot of people are asking if he plans on returning to radio in the comments section but no response from the big guy yet.

That's what I don't get about this whole situation. If he has no intention of returning to the airwaves in some form or another why doesn't he just come out and say it. Just say "I'm retired" and that's it. End of speculation. All we are hearing is "stay tuned" and we're busy getting the house in a livable condition and selling off all the junk.

obviously all Bell means by "stay tuned" is for regular updates on his cleaning up the house and moving back and forth between Nevada and Manila, plus updates on his daughter's progress.  ;D

thats for sure. apparently he has lots of fun throwing out short meaningless phrases ("stay tuned") that stir up the old fanbase to jumping to big conclusions.  8)

It just occurred to me that the TV sale IS a message.

42".

FORTY TWO INCHES.

42!

THAT is the answer!

Now we just need to figure out the question.

No doubt, Morg. I`m pretty sure Art loves the drama. He`s a showman -- and a DAMNED good one. Yeah, he`ll be back in some capacity. I`ll wager my soul against eternal damnation. See that, Art? You better not make a fool of me.

God bless ya, brother. I miss you so much

You know, in light of the all the offbeat twists and turns this thread has touched, it's surprising it took 108 pages to finally get a Douglas Adams reference.

The real question though is the significance of 55...55-42 = 13!!!
What is he trying to tell us!!!?!?!?  Fort Rock help us.  does this mean Oct 13th?
Where Glynis Mcants when we need her?

"In the Hindu-Buddhist civilizational sphere, the number 108 is among the most sacred and appears as the true or fictitious cardinal number of all manner of philosophical sets and religious series.  What makes this number so special?  We will try to position ourselves as best as possible into the minds of profundity-oriented symbolists in order to extract their kind of meaning from this unusual number."

This is bullshit. Art is a pretty humble man IMO.

There certainly are things that make us wonder.

As to 108, I would be much more impressed if the ratio of 108 were more common than the distance relation between just the earth, moon and sun. If perhaps a similar ratio existed between the planets in our solar system and or the galaxy the significance would be more compelling.

Many of the correlations mentioned at that site are rather meaningless. I mean... 2 lines in a pentagram having a 108 summation is no more relavant than an unopened deck has 54 cards (2 jokers) so two decks 108... wow.

I have some respect for the Hindu-Buddhist philosophies. This however sorta, maybe, eroded it a bit.

That number 42 however... rock solid science.

Yeah, I know.  I'm just joking at the absurdity of Art selling used TV's online.

He must be having a great time and wondering why he didn't get on Facebook earlier...  He can send people into a tizzy by posting on such mundane things as house cleaning updates and old TVs.  All he has to do is dangle the "stay tuned" carrot here and there to get people analyzing his every gesture.

Based on Art's Facebook activity he's going into appliance sales. Just imagine Art Bell's Large and Small Appliance Showroom and Lounge

OK, you guys who can screen cap, Art has just posted a lengthy (for him) statement about why he's in the U.S.  It's a comment under Art's post about never selling his condo in Manila.

Somebody go get it!  :-*

Here you go:

-------------

I did make a comment about the Philippines. I love it there as I love it here. People are very friendly there, life is easier and much cheaper in some areas. There are very few violent crimes unlike here for reasons that should be studied, almost no rape, no serial killers, only pick pockets and such. Much more poverty but happier people. Go figure. I am a permenant resident of the Philippines and we will go back again but my Wife's green card was at risk if we stayed longer and I was not allowed to have a antenna, so for now we are here and working like dogs on the house.
