The would be new supreme leader of everybody's favorite basket case of a country, North Korea. His name is Kim Jong Um and he's got blood thirsty psycho written all over his face. We can only hope that somewhere in that asylum, somebody's got to be sick and tired of not having electricity, and eating rats and cockroaches, and perhaps bold enough to engineer some sort of "accident" to cut this goon's rule real short.
that's hard to imagine happening without external intervention.
the north korean people are SO steeped in this deity-like worship they've heaped on their tyrannical heads of state for the last 60 years that they can't imagine any other way of living or thinking. granted, much of it is based on fear, but after having recently watched numerous documentaries about the country and its people, i think they genuinely believe in their leadership and that it's in their best interests to remain loyal.
like 1930s dust-bowl children who
blissfully were unaware of their impoverished circumstances, the north korean people have no idea what facets of the human experience they're missing out on by voluntarily remaining slaves of the state. they're entirely cut off from the outside world. they're even cut off from the INSIDE world, as there is absolutely zero free press in north korea. and, now, thanks to the naive nuke deals made during the clinton administration and several years of continued ineptitude by the bush administration, the DPRK is now a nuclear power. let the party begin.
however, there's always this little ray of sunshine: communist societies do not have peaceful dynastic successions of power. that between kim il sung and his son, kim jong il, was the first in world history. i think kim jong um is likely to "suffer" a coup d'état when a second attempt is made. i don't believe the DPRK generals and cabinet members know him as they do/did his two would-be predacessors... nor will they feel the same loyalty. all are probably eager to put an end to the reign of this thuggish family, and an attempted coup during the DPRK's next period of succession seems likely.
take a look at this video to better understand how these people have been raised to think. specifically, take note of who it is the cataracts patients decide to thank after their vision is restored. it most certainly isn't the charitable doctor.
