Need wheatgrass instruction
« on: January 13, 2010, 02:30:10 PM »

For ages, I've wanted to be able to grow wheatgrass in my home so that I can juice some every day. I see all the wheatgrass growing contraptions offered online, but simply don't know anything about it, and so have refrained from buying anything.

For anyone who knows, what is it involved? How many shoots from the little flat of wheatgrass do I cull to make, say, an ounce of juice? Once planted, how many times will the culled shoots regrow? Etc...

Hopefully someone here knows summit about it.

First - I want to ask you if you have ever had wheat grass juice?  I imagine you have, but if not - TRY it first.  I've found it give me an awful allergic-type icky feeling.  Queasy, glands swollen and so on.

Obviously - I don't know the rest of the story - since I've tried it at a juice bar a few times - and never liked the results.

BTW - wheat grass gurus insist that wheat grass cannot do to people what it does to me - and that I must have gotten a moldy batch, or the juicer was not kept clean enough. Since I've tried it a differant times - made by different people, in at least 3 different places - My POV is either it's very very hard to keep your contraption pristine - or the gurus are full of shit.

The Creative Health Institute in Union City Michigan, are some of the gurus, it is based on the teachings of Dr. Ann Wigmore and Barbara Wigand, They also have an energy exchange program where you can stay there, and they will teach you everything you ever wanted to know about it, how to grow it, sell literature or buy it directly from them in take home trays.

I'm sure it's - at worst, harmless for most.  My problem is that I'm apparently allergic to the stuff - and the true belivers don't wanna get that.

Oh well.

Sorry -- don't know anything about this. If I was going to grow some kind of grass, wheat is not the type I would choose...

After a month out of the country, imagine my stunned amazement when, riding in a cab in NYC yesterday, I heard on the radio that NJ had legalized medical marijuana. Try and understand, I live in a state, and part of the country, where, if the powers that be had their way, literally nothing would be legal and everything would be taxed at 100%. So this is nothing short of flabbergasting. Presumably, as goes the <cough> Garden State, so, in a few years, will go the Empire State. The Empire's interest is no doubt simply the tax revenue--plus the added bonus of urban pacification resulting from half the population drifting through life in a purple haze. Sheeple, so much easier to control. Who cares. I'm all for it, though I gave up the stuff years ago.

I agree Mordred.

Massachusetts has decriminalized possession of under an ounce (and ounce or more is presumed to be intent to distribute) but has not yet legalized medical marijuana.  I hope we will follow the example of NJ and other states soon.
