I just talked to, uh, a source, yeah, that's it, a source, in, um, Portland, and he/she said that there are some interesting developments in store in the future for Radio Trainwreck.  The stinging nettle army will march.

Love,

Pumpkinhead.

Sad news. I only got to participate in the live chat twice but it was great fun. I understand that your upcoming responsibilities are greater than this hobby, but the trainwreck will be sorely missed. You had a great run and your listeners will remember the show with fondness. That should tell you that your effort was put toward something special.

HORSE DICK

First Art, then Ross, now Vandeven.

They always go in threes...

On a serious note: thanks.

Podcasting is hard. I almost made it onto the Radio Trainwreck Podcast network. I put together a decent show, but it was so fucking hard to get a ten minute demo together that I said "fuck this" and went back to things that make me feel good and come easier.

I had a great drummer once who gave me his philosophy on taking gigs, and it was a two out of three sort of thing.

The three variables were:

1) having fun
2) making money
3) Learning

If he ever found himself questioning a gig, he'd look at the situation and if at least two out of three of those variables weren't there, he'd say "fuck it" and quit.

Sounds like you had one out of three, having fun, but that ain't enough when you are losing money and not learning or gaining anything!

Thanks for the entertainment MV

This is sad, but I'm happy for these new developments in Michael's life. Congratulations!

Thanks Michael for taking the time to set up such fun communities.  I am glad to say I have been a member of this forum and the Trainwreck / Spec Sheet podcasts.  You have such a professional polish on how you manage the podcast side of things I would love to see you turn that into a full-time paying gig.  I'll always appreciated you giving me a platform to share my thoughts and opinions.  From the first time I heard you talking on the old AB stream and got annoyed enough to call in and give my 2cents I knew you were not the typical podcast guy.

Here at coastgab you have created something really special and I hope everyone takes this chance to think about it.

Where was the Art Bell non-announcement first mentioned with any substance?  Here!

Where did Art Bell go when he had something real to say?  Here!

Where did Fort Rock go after his ground breaking plan for Wiccan Picnics? Here!

Taking this community from its Georgenoorysucks.com legacy to its relevant placement in the web community is not an easy job and is something that you deserve to be praised for repeatedly.  Who else from our community could have done this and also brought the large names like Rollye James, etc into the mix and played the game at their level?

I also want to thank all the awesome members here for listening to the content we created and doing their part to make this website worth me checking into everyday even if I don't always post.

I was trying to connect to the stream yesterday to listen to the classic shows.  Much to my surprise it wasn't there!!   I thought it was probably a technical problem.  I thought to start a 'Michael Vandeven Quits Radio Train Wreck' thread as a joke.     Damn, I didn't think it was true.

I always enjoyed the show. We had some fun chats.

Thanks for your time and work.

now that i'm no longer doing the podcast, i'm streaming music 24/7.  you can click here to listen using winamp or some other player.  if you would like to use an easy embedded player through your browser, click here and then click "play."  i'll probably jump on from time to time and do the dj thing, so that should be fun.

please let me know if you notice any audio dropouts.  i've been listening to the stream non stop for about 24 hours now and i've heard the dropout a couple of times.  wondering if others are hearing it, too.

oh, and i hope my musical tastes are within your tolerance range.

edit:  if you have a shoutcast app on your mobile device, just do a search for radiotrainwreck.com to find the stream.

I enjoyed your podcasts a ton, put i was always drastically late to the punch line, so to speak. Always downloaded them like 3 weeks after you'd uploaded them. I only started posting here because you stopped podcasting. Thanks for entertaining me  :3

The show was a kick to do - but life keeps getting in the way.  I gotta say I'm sad right now hearing your voice on the announcement. Damn, dude - you do sound good!

curtis and i have started doing the spec sheet again, but in the form of a live google hangout which is then automatically posted to youtube.  this is far easier for both of us to pull off, and so i think we're going to be back in a regular swing.  i'm pretty happy about that.  doing the show this way takes a fraction of the time and effort compared to the old podcast format we originally did.

I totally enjoyed the show! It was like having an old friend move back to town. However, I wish there was a way to stream just the audio. I like to listen at night on my ipod but as soon as I turn off the screen, the stream stops. Maybe I can resample, or re-record it into an mp3. Audio-out from PC1 to audio-in on PC2. Hmm...

Also, you guys sure look young to an old fart like me. ::)

Glad to have you back.  :)

Great link! Worked perfectly. Wish I had known about that sooner. Will listen tonight. Even so, I do enjoy seeing your facial expressions. That makes a big difference. ;)

Great job guys!

I watched/listened to about half of the previous spec sheet, and quite enjoyed it, tho tech isn't really my thing.

I'd like to see/hear you guys interview HAL on the subject of 'online research'.
