Does any one know of any broadcast where Art credited or referenced earlier talk radio show host with influencing the style and direction of Coast to Coast AM or it's earlier incarnation Area 2000 ?

Caught a bit of Somewhere in Time tonight...

All the years later I still can't figure why Art had those EVP frauds on. Sounds like feedback from kids walkie talkies being too close, but these clowns can hear "tell mommy I miss her". Fuckin creeps.

i'm not a huge fan of EVP.  i think it's more likely that the phenomena has more to do with something going on inside the listener's head than a spirit attempting to communicate.  i have heard some EVP's that are much more convincing than others.  but the GIS people that Art would have on are far more tolerable than the Ghost Hunters though i can't blame those guys for their bullshit.  being a hack investigator on a reality tv show beats being a plumber any day of the week

There's a whole subculture of those groups these days.  Unlike the GIS people, they all seem to think they're rock stars.  Apparently there's also a lot of infighting among the different groups.  Those guys on travel channel are particularly funny.... They hear the slightest noise and they jump, like kids on too much caffeine.  I think 95% of those things are random building noises along with the listener projecting what they'd like to hear.  I think maybe 5% of the ones I've heard are interesting.

Any adult who goes into a graveyard in the dead of night with recording equipment should be fitted for a sleeveless coat. I understand some 15 year olds wearing Slayer shirts, smoking dope etc...

Art's greatest misses include Evelyn Pagnini,EVP, Ed Dames,Hoaxland...

Boom.  Also, I find the whole thing boring.  I mean while dead people may be more interesting than a Noory, I'm looking for someone who's alive who can say something real.

I'm pretty sure that Art mentions Herb Jepko as an influence in his book "The Art Of Talk"

ok ok ok

I just listend to c2c  1998 11-11  with guest David Icke (ike not icky lol)

On that show Art states he has been doing the show for 14 years and to me it sounds like he's refering to doing the show from his home.  Now if that is the case go back 14 years from 1998 is 1984.  So I think it can be safe to say Coast to Coast Am with Art Bell (aliens) at least in 1984. Coast to Coast AM with Art Bell (political) who knows when LOL.  According to the Art of Talk Alan Corbuth sp? Suggested the studio should be in Art's house. Now if Art is refering to doing the show from his house then I think we can say before 1984 for the birth of Coast To Coast AM with Art Bell (Aliens). The Art of Talk says management flipped when Art changed the format (politics/Aliens) untill they saw the rattings. Anywho, thats about where I think the show started 1984.
Now all we need are some GNS MIB's to track down people who taped and listend back then and get there tapes lol.

This kinda brings the retirement decision into perspective.  He had a good run.

Listening to '97 rebroadcast. This Rosalie Osias has an annoying voice...found a picture of her. She's alright looking(peroxide blonde) but seems like the type that would end up in a pool of blood at Phil Spector's house.

Noory did a live chat April 10 for the Coast Insiders.  He was asked about Art Bell and he answered that Art is fully retired and won't be doing any shows.

The c2c website lists one of the all-time Art Bell classics airing tonight on Somewhere in Time, its the so-called Alien in the Freezer story:

Art Bell: Somewhere in Time returns to 11/10/98 when Robert Raith described Dr. Jonathon Reed's infamous alien encounter when he allegedly killed an ET and stuffed it in his freezer.
Archived website photos of the alien: here

Yuck, that stupid story put true UFO's encounters back a mile. Now skeptics point to that freezer moron and try to nexus that fraud to all UFO encounters

I was curious about Art's discussions on HAM radio at one time, so I thought someone might find this interesting. It's a recent recording of Art and his neighbor. Great friendship these guys have. It has some moderately personal info on it, so I won't host it for long. I'm pretty sure that if he had anything to say about the current state of C2C, though, he's gotten it out of his system by now.

Agreed. It's sad that I'd rather listen to Art chat with his neighbor than Coast with Noory.

just heard Art's "reasoning" about global man made climate change (2010 show).

freely from memory he said something like:
Quote
"Despite the recent Climategate emails, I still believe in man-made climate change, because you just can't change science".

I think that comment and such an opinion are typical for Art's arrogance and ignorance. The UN paid scientists pretty much doctored up their whole graphs about climate change, but Art claims that science is with his opinion still despite he doesn't know shit about how they doctored up the whole thing in the first place most likely.

Art Bell has been a moron and totally wrong in so many things, but always presents his opinions like a god who can't possibly be wrong with his nasal aristocrat like voice, like when he said Obama is the best thing since sliced bread, or when he supports all the wars the US Administration started.

I think he's full of shit, too, when it comes to global warming, but I don't hold it against him.  I once knew a local radio guy who was ten times more of a pompous ass than art ever was.

Glad I don't know any other phony-voiced radio hosts like this.

This is why I'd like to see him pop in here more often, it feels kind of creepy stalking the poor guy on ham.
Nice catch though, Analog!

The same thing is okay, when the host conforms to your political biases.

Stalking is a bit strong a word. He has what is essentially an open chat room, that you can listen to with software. Though you have to have an FCC license to run it. I can't listen anymore though. My brother-in-law is the HAM, and he's not talking much on the radio, as he just had multiple heart attacks, and if you get on the air with Art and don't respond to him, it understandably gets on his nerves.

I posted in the other thread that unfortunately this is the only source of new old material from Art. The majority of the shows that are aired as part of the Saturday night SIT shows are shows that do not exist on any of the file sharing sites and are effectively new classic material from Art. With SIT gone we will not get anymore classic Art Bell shows unless someone raids the vaults at Premiere. New Classic Art Bell material is dead.
