Paranormal radio shows.

So, can you guys recommend some? I went through at least 30 today and they were awful. Most seem to be geared toward one subject and they are made entirely from the biased view of the believer. The hosts were uneducated and didn't allow a diverging viewpoint to come up at all. I am mostly interested in ghost/demonology and cryptozoology but have yet to find one show where the host wasn't 100% sure everything the guest said was true. I know its asking alot from the paranormal community to take on a skeptical bent but does anyone out there actually question what they are doing? This whole idea just creates an "us vs. them" mentality that does nothing to add any credibility to any sort of investigation. Its either you believe it 100% or you are one of them, seeking to point out the irrationality of the implausibility of said beliefs. I know we will never get Art back, but does anyone at all take on an unbiased stance when presenting information?

Open Mind with Bill Jenkins is the best alternative to Art I've found so far.  The radio show was out of KABC (IIRC?) in Los Angeles.  It was on in the early 80's.  You can find the torrent file for the show online.  Problem is: There are only a few episodes (a dozen or so) so when you're through them you're through them.  Art's shtick, to me, is really half Art doing a sort of P.T. Barnum impression and half Bill Jenkins.  You should check it out.

I wish James Randi would do a podcast, although he might come off as being too harsh on his subjects, but I don't think he has one.

I found a bit torrent of Bill Jenkins and am trying to get some of the MP3's now.  But, despite my fair-to-middlin' computer literacy, I SUCK at bit torrents (Centurion, DON'T YOU DARE!!!   :-X ) So, I dunno if I'm going to get anything usable or not.  I'll let you know!

Can any of you help me understand this?  Images loaded below.

What I think I know:

My NetXfer program (which I mostly use for grabbing streams - but will also do torrents) is working on finding the pieces to the Bill Jenkins MP3's I've requested.

It looked at a number of address for various pieces.

It got a few - very few.

It is also offering those few back to anyone also searching, like me.

I assume choke and unchoke are like "wait your turn" and "now it's your turn"  (?)

Does "keep alive" mean I've hit at least a partial jackpot?

Am I going to have to somehow compile these files?  (I associate bit torrenting with complicated post-get compile processes - which is why I avoid them.  I never did figure that out.)

The very first thing I got was a list of the MP3s in the Bill Jenkins Collection I'm trying to download. Look below, and you'll see that it looks as if I have them already.  I don't.  Those are just icons - not yet assocaited with anything.

When I get the message Have ### - does that mean I've connected with some computer that has that bit?

This entire collection is about 836 mgs.  Not tiny - not huge. It's taken over 1/2 hour to get 12 mgs.  My computer and my connect are fast.  Does this seem slow to you?

Now for the screen shots, sorry they are in no particular order.

Answering (most) of my own questions (DUH-OH!)

This page: http://www.vladd44.com/torrent/what.php  explained most of what I was confused over.

So, now that I've found people with bits - and given back a number of the bits I've gotten, things are chugging along at a rate that seems more reasonable.

And, if you want these files yourself and are less intimidated by the torrent thing than I, look here: http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4216847/OPEN_MIND_with_Bill_Jenkins_-_Rare_MP3_Collection_-_for_Coast_to
